Qq. Teen dog sitting price

How much would you ask for a friend to pay your teenager to dog sit for a couple of hours? No dog walking required. She did it for free recently but I don't want her to be taken advantage of

She can say no if she /you think the owners are taking advantage, how much do you think they should give her ?

Nothing because I (as the parent of teenagers and a dog owner myself) would never put my child in the position of looking after a dog they didn’t live with or put my dogs in the hand of a teenager.

Most dogs can be left by themselves with no one required.

If these people feel they need someone (assuming the dog can’t be left alone) it should not be a teenager. Too much can go wrong with a dog with behavioural issues that means it can’t be alone (dogs with severe SA can display resource guarding when stressed by a stranger - in this case the teenager - in their home).

So either your teenager isn’t needed, or they need someone who knows about whatever behavioural issues it is that means the dog can’t be alone.

My friend is going out for the evening & would like someone there to keep the dog company just for a couple of hours. Dd (17) has taken the dog for a walk several times & has met the dog more times than I can remember so the dog does know her. She's a very sweet dog & will probably just sleep or want a bit of attention

Well if she wants to do it and is happy all you can do is advise her not to let it be regular dog care and leave her to it it, you know the owners can you suggest to them to give her a tenner or something as a thank you ?

My neighbour used to pay me £30ish for 3 days of dog walking/feeding (2 walks and 3 feeds) for their dalmation when they went away for the weekend, but this is going back over 20 years. I'd probably say no less than £10 for a decent walk and at least £10ph for dog sitting.
