Best way back from the O2 to Waterloo or Paddington during tube strike

Going to the O2 tomorrow night and have just seen there is a tube strike!
Does anyone know the best way to get back to either Waterloo or Paddington so we don’t miss the last train home?

Thank you

Sadly cable car finishes at 9pm.

If you can't get boat or taxi would you consider staying o/n and going home Wednesday? Not necessarily on peninsula, there are Travelodges and Premier Inn in Lewisham and Greenwich. Would still need to get a bus but you wouldn't be fighting to get on first few and worried about missing last train.

It really isn’t complicated. There are several buses that run to Woolwich straight from the O2. Yes, there will be queues but you’ll get there. They take about 20 minutes to get to Woolwich. The buses stop opposite the Elizabeth Line from where you get the line to Paddington. I think the last Elizabeth line tube in that direction is about 12:30am but you’d need to check that on the TFL website.
The Citymapper App is good also if you don’t have it. Takes a little bit of getting used to but will literally walk you through the journey with live bus/tube times.

My husband and daughter got stranded at an Alicia Keyes concert when the tube broke down. They eventually got on a bus but no way would they have reached Paddington for the last train. They missed our last train from Waterloo. Luckily we are on a night bus route so they managed to get that but they didnt get home til 4am.

At the JLS concert when my daughter was stuck with her friend, there was such a crush to get on the buses, people were abusive to the drivers, banging on the buses....they all simply left and didnt come back. My husband had to drive over and pick them up.

The 02 is a nightmare to get to / from in the evening of no tube and there is zero contingency planning.

It does seem stressful when tubes are not running as it’s on a dead end! They have gone to the concert now and spoke with the staff at the cable
car who said they were running til late so they’re planning on getting the cable car over and then Elizabeth line 🤞

Thanks, we didn’t know it finished then! Staff said it would still be running later..

They do have the option of staying with friends of mine in Bromley so that’s a back up plan.

It’s hard for me as I don’t know that area of London well and due to eyesight problems I can’t drive and collect them.

Can they walk to Maze Hill or Westcombe Park and get the train to Waterloo from there (maybe via London Bridge)?. I think it’s Southeastern. Not sure how late the overground runs

It might be running later tonight - I was just going by usual times listed on website.

Hope they have a great time at concert and return journey not too stressful!

Journey home was flawless. They caught the cable car and then straight onto Elizabeth line home with no changes. Much easier than I expected it to be..

That’s great. Obviously the cable car was open later than the published hours -hopefully they’ll do that at other times, as it’s such a good connection to the Elizabeth line.
