Can you go to Florence with a baby?

We’re thinking about going to Florence for 4 nights with a baby next month.

Has anyone been and advise whether it’s doable given the cobblestones and anything else that might make it not baby friendly?

Thank you

Totally impossible. Italians are actually required to leave Florence if they have a child.

of course it's fine and the Italians will coo over your little one and make you feel proud as punch. I remember men crossing the street in Florence to squeeze my baby son's thigh (he was chubby!) and declare him to be a little bull ♥️♥️♥️

Yes but they mustn't have Aperol. A tiny bit of tiramisu is fine.

italians love babies!

Just be aware that it can get really busy and could be getting hot too. I’d think about a baby carrier rather than a pram.

Think it would be fine. If you're worried about cobbles, a 3 wheeled buggy will cope.

The streets are crowded and it’s very much a “looking at things” city break. If you’ve got a baby you can wear in a sling around art galleries I think you’d be fine. If it’s toddler, I might give it a miss

As long as the temperature is OK , everything else will be fine.

We have a smaller travel pram so not as robust - is this a no go?

We took DS to Florence when he was 10 months old. It's a stereotype, but Italians really do adore babies, I think the young Italian men make more of a fuss of babies than the women do. We also took him to Barcelona when he was 7 months old, and he was welcomed everywhere there as well. I think it's easier to do city break holidays when they are babies rather than when they are toddlers. We pushed him around in a standard buggy, I don't remember the cobbles being too much of a problem.

We've done it with a lightweight push chair ( so slightly older child but still napping ) I would say it's not a show stopper. Just normal common sense applies.
Honestly I think you'll be fine. The worst thing IMHO about Florence for children , or indeed adults , in mid summer is the temperature if you are out for the whole day. Anything else can be dealt with.
I hope you have a lovely time. 💐

There are lots of paving slabs and cobbles, and 3 wheelers take uneven surfaces very easily, which would definitely be an asset. Saying that, I am sure many, many people have pushed 4 wheeled buggies through Florence and survived the experience, even if it is harder work in some places!

We took the Puggle travel pram to Italy & a bit snapped on the wheel due to the cobbles. A bit of superglue and it was good to go!

Enjoy!

Yes. They have babies there.
