East Sussex dog walks

Anyone know East Sussex well? I’m going to be staying in Rye and need 4 circular dog walks in the area, preferably off lead and approx 5-6 miles ish. Happy to walk directly from Rye or have a short drive and then walk. Have already noted the walk from Rye to the beach. Any ideas?

We love the Rye Harbour walk, there’s a dog friendly Cafe and you can circle your way around https://rye.sussexwildlifetrust.org.uk/

A drive to Fairlight, Hastings Country Park is a nice walk, plenty of open space, dogs can roam, nice scenery.

We have the famous 1066 walk which wouldn’t necessarily be circular and would take quite some time but always worth having a look at if you enjoy longer walks - you could do some of it along the path https://www.visit1066country.com/things-to-do/1066-country-walk-p881061

1066 Country Walk

The 31-mile 1066 Country Walk is a relatively easy, low-level route through countryside that witnessed the Norman Conquest. Starting at Pevensey…

These ideas sound great and thanks for the link!
Is there a coastal path option which would be scenic, if not necessarily circular?

Does anybody live locally to Rye or has visited the area and can give any recommendations?

Try this link, this is a good, solid guide https://sussexexclusive.com/rye-harbour-to-hastings-old-town-an-epic-walk/

Be aware of tide times though!! And you may dip on to the French mobile network in places and never quite know what the time is 🤣

Not sure if you’ve visited Hastings before, but they have a great “Old Town” lots of nice restaurants and shops. Many dog friendly places in Hastings & Rye too.

You could head out to Dungeness - it’s quite an odd place and worth a trip. You can have a quick look at Derek Jarman’s garden.
Camber Sands is nice - check out the rules on dogs on the beach though.
I did the Hastings to Rye walk with my dog years ago and it’s lovely but quite a trek.

Greatstone beach is very dog friendly and a short drive away. A there and back along the beach can be about five miles, but be very careful of the tide. Make sure you use Greatstone and not Littlestone as that is not dog friendly. If you look out to sea, Greatstone is to your right.
