How much time do you spend just doing things for you?

I was raised by parents who thought doing things for my own enjoyment was incredibly self-entitled and wasteful, and unfortunately this has transferred into my adult life.

I feel like I should always be "doing something", and by doing something I mean housework, laundry, gardening. Things that has a tangible benefit.

Sleeping in, watching tv, and reading a book were all seen as laziness and "wasting the day", and I still suffer with that sense of guilt when I do those things.

Is everyone else fairly "productive" at the weekends/during their time off? How often do you spend time doing things for yourself?

As much as I feel like. I don't feel guilty, ever. I do get stuff done, but enjoy as much time doing as I like, too.
You are a grown up with autonomy. Give yourself permission to please yourself. 💐

Thank you Flowers I do get stuff done, too. I wouldn't sit around while the house is a pigsty but even when the house is tidy, and my laundry basket is empty, I still hear my mothers voice in the back of my mind saying "Are you just going to sit there all day??" Grin

There's such a wide variety of ways of being. Work out what your own values and ethics are and then live according to that.
