Has anyone moved to two online shops a week? Hoping to save costs..

I am gulping with horror as my weekly shop creeps up to £150 a week with tesco. It is heading towards being most of our available weekly money. I have decided to trial 2 shops. One on a sunday like normal with school lunches etc and the other on a thursday so we ard ready for the weekend.
The thought process is that I will cut down on just in case shopping as I know it isnt long until the next comes.

Does anyone else do this? Any tips?

So what i mean by just in case is buying 2 big pots of yoghurt or lots of snacks or 18 apples because I am not sure how many people will eat. Inevitably that causes some food waste. ( And we do waste more food than I like due to picky autistic kids). We dont eat massively expensive for like meat joints or junk food, and rarely eat the things I like, like prawns curry or fish. Id like to buy less per time and eat it all.

I do two or three online shops and it works well. I’ve never got the hang of a weekly shop.

I’ve done three a fortnight for a long time and now do two a week, one on a Monday or Tuesday and the other on a Friday or Saturday. I can guarantee that, at least one DC will have a sports fixture re-arranged this week, DH’s work is unpredictable and then weather and things also mean that we never stick to a menu plan.

I get 2 a week but that’s only because the dates on everything only seem to be for a few days so I am never able to buy for a full week

go to Aldi instead

If you’re getting to the end of the apples life span and they’re not being eaten, chop and freeze. You can cook them for puds or porridge another time, works for most fruit.

Things like beans and pulses/lentils/chickpeas can be bought dried in bulk for much cheaper. If you’re someone who will remember to soak some for 24 hours before using they’re a great meat replacement.

I shop twice a week, Saturday for the weekend and up to Wednesday lunch and Wednesday evening to Saturday morning.

I find it means I have less food waste as things can go pearshaped and dinners need to be re-scheduled or soft food like salads/fruit won't go off.

I don't have a huge kitchen so freezer and larder space is limited. And none of us is keen on batch cooked food, we prefer stir-frys, tray bakes etc.

I buy household items when on offer or some like cleaning supply I get online in larger sizes. I drop into Savers one every month for toileteries.
