Anyone else find the Revitive Medic intensity surprisingly uncomfortable at first?

Hi

I got the Revitive Medic today and it says the most commonly used intensity is 40.

I'm really not normally a wuss but the vibrating feeling (yes I know it doesn't actually vibrate), is absolutely brutal! 😱

Will I get used to it? At the moment I have to start on 30 and work my way up to 40 after about ten minutes.

Clare Balding makes it look so comfortable and easy 😬

I hope you find success with this but what I find unconvincing with the Revitive is that Eamon Holmes used to promote it and shortly after was in a wheelchair.

Claire Balding was the nail in the coffin if ever I was tempted. That women is on everything and will do anything for some dosh. I once asked her for an autograph and she said 'well buy the book first then' as I wanted my autograph book signed as I took it to her book signing. She also has the biggest feet I have ever seen

Not sure why this made me laugh so much! 😁

Honestly though, the intensity is so strong, I can't see older people using it past the 40 intensity.

Unless I'm wrong, and I really do just have to woman up get used to it.

I had to start it on about 7!

After a few months I'd worked my way up to 20, then I fell out of the habit. Took it up again a few weeks ago, and was surprised that now I need it at 30 for any significant effect.

I'm not sure if I've had any benefit from it but I'm not very mobile, so decided it was definitely worth a go to improve my parlous circulation!

Oh thank you!

This is exactly what I wanted to hear - that hopefully I'll just get used to the intensity.

I have PAD and usually work on my feet but I've taken some time off to look after a sick relative, and I'm definitely losing my circulation more.

I don't think there's a target number one should be aiming for.

More, that one should choose an intensity that feels right, then set the gadget at the number which causes that.

IIRC the instructions say it does depend on things like your hydration on the day.

For myself I'm just aiming for a good bit of exercise without too much discomfort or after effects. but you might find more sophisticated users than me who can give better advice!

OK I've just dug out the instructions. It does indeed say to start low for a few days' familiarisation; then aim for "strong but comfortable calf muscle contractions"; and the setting you need to achieve this may vary from day to day.

Hope you find it helps!

Thank you, yes it has!

I can now start at 25 or 30 and after about 15 minutes, I can manage 40.

I'm only using it every other day, to give my muscles a rest in between 😊

ETA: I mean I can do those numbers fairly painlessly now.

Excellent!

I'm so pleased to meet someone else who does the every-other-day thing!

I find 24 hours isn't enough to recover properly, and over my life so many of my exercise kicks – no matter how mild – crashed and burned before I learned to leave it 48 hours.
