Cream for cracked elbows. I need a holy grail to heal them in just over a week!

First world problem…

My elbows are really cracked and sore. I’ve never had cracked elbows before but they’re seriously painful. I’ve tried Vaseline, urea cream and O’Keefs working hands cream. I put some savlon on them tonight but couldn’t stand the nipping pain and had to wash it off. Does anyone have any recommendations of what might heal them and not nip? Ideally I need them healed asap as I’m going on holiday abroad in a couple of weeks and really don’t want scabby elbows 😭

@PinkNailPolish2026 Lambing, eh? You haven't become sensitive to lanolin, have you?

Hillytentty · 18/04/2026 14:21

This will sort them out in 24-48 hours- from experience

I’m using nipple cream and it seems to be helping, some of the smaller cracks are starting to heal. I’m going to try the socks on arms tonight to try and keep the cream on overnight and hopefully that’ll help too. I’m not sure if I’ve taken a sensitivity to lanolin, I’d never thought of that but it’s a possibility and a I’ll keep my eye on it. Thanks so much for all the recommendations, I’m going to get to a pharmacy on Monday and buy some ointment I can use in the bath too. I’m determined not to get on that plane with scabby elbows.

Another vote for Flexitol - other brands are available too. Excellent stuff!

I use Egyptian magic cream, its amazing and multipurpose. Just recently bought a trial pack of fat cow skin care and its amazing too. 😃

Buy the ones for cracked heels.

Balneum Plus, the only stuff that works on my eczema.

My go to for troublesome skin is sudocreme

Have you tried Eucerin very dry skin lotion with 10% urea? Difficult to find in the shops but can buy on Amazon. Works in days and has sorted out my cracked heels and ketosis on the back of my arms

A few people have mentioned Eucerin now. Is it the aquaphor one as there’s quite a few different ones on Amazon.

Was going to suggest flexotol but several people beat me to it. Works absolute miracles on dry cracked heels, overnight success.

I get it from Boots. It's excellent.

Lansinoh, the nipple cream, works wonders. Slather it on at night before sleep.

Yes this, I use it on cracked heels and fingertips, it's a miracle and you can get tiny tubes in Boots now and not have to fork out for the old huge ones I had when BF 20 years ago. It works even better if you cover it with a plaster overnight.

Wolfiefan · 18/04/2026 18:22

Egyptian magic cream is great. I also use rescue balm by thunderbird skin.

Weleda skin food is brilliant

It’s this one - larger Boots sometimes sell it or pharmacies/chemists - or Amazon

@PinkNailPolish2026 just attached an image but “under review!” But it is called Urea Repair - 10% urea intensive moisturising lotion for very dry rough skin

ErrolTheDragon · 18/04/2026 20:28

Another vote for flexitol or similar - something that can deal with cracked heels can deal with elbows, rough knees etc.

Hillytentty · 18/04/2026 21:58

You need urea - it doesn't matter if it says it is for feet it's just urea body cream - it is just more common that feet get dry and cracked. I use on my hands at night and it like miracle cream. 10% is good but 25% is much better.

Butteredtoast55 · 18/04/2026 22:09

I use O'Keeffe's Healthy Feet foot cream for my heels, and always pop a bit on my elbows too. It's great stuff!

PinkNailPolish2026 · 23/04/2026 23:23

You’ll all be glad to know the hacks have healed really well. They started feeling better with the nipple cream but my elbows were still really dry so I bought the Flexitol and Eucerin, I used the Flexitol at night and the Eucerin after my shower in the morning and they feel so much better. I’ve managed to get an appointment with my GP on Monday as my right elbow has what I can only describe as fish scales on it, it’s very odd. I’m not sure if I’ve taken an allergy to lanolin as someone suggested or if it’s another skin condition.

Thank you all for the suggestions 💕
