Can you pay slowly for a tummy tuck ?

I’m trying to lose weight but with pcos insulin resistance it’s proving hard, I’ve decided if in 6 months I’ve not lost a decent amount then I’m having lipo and a tummy tuck as I refuse to spend the next few years miserable and hating my reflection.

Has anyone here had one ? I’m presuming you can pay in instalments due to them costing such a large amount of money ? Who are the best of the best in this business ? Am based in the uk btw, England specifically.

Look up how long after liposuction can you have a tummy tuck
How much fat can safely be removed under liposuction- could take more than one procedure
Then recovery time for a tummy tuck
Then add on the expense

JenniferJupiterr · 15/04/2026 10:51

Just bear in mind that a tummy tuck isn’t weight loss surgery. You need to be a normal
BMI to have one - and those who’ll
Operate on someone significantly over this should be avoided

Don’t go abroad and make sure you research the surgeon and not the company. I went with someone I consider the best out there (or one of them!) for tummy tucks and that was Fulvio Urso-Baiarda

You probably can get a loan, yes. I didn’t but that option is available

JenniferJupiterr · 15/04/2026 10:52

Oh and you have both at once. The tummy tuck and the lipo round the hips / waist to bring the sculpted shape

Mum2Fergus · 15/04/2026 10:54

Happy to stand corrected but I think you need to be in the ‘normal/healthy’ BMI range before a tuck can be considered. I’m looking at Spire Healthcare for mine.

Mounjaro2026 · 15/04/2026 10:54

Have you tried Mounjaro? It's been incredible for me and I would think much cheaper

MiddleAgedDread · 15/04/2026 10:56

check the private hospitals that offer this but I think most offer paying in installments

Dr13Hadley · 15/04/2026 11:03

My colleague took out a loan to have hers done.

PivotPivotmakingmargaritas · 15/04/2026 11:06

Try Mounjaro it’s been amazing for me - expensive but considering you are looking at a tummy tuck much cheaper.

Touty · 15/04/2026 11:09

The problem is that if you don’t get your weight under control you could spend the money getting a tummy tuck but the fat could come back.

i went for a consultation with a surgeon about this and she told me exactly that.

so I changed a lot about my diet, i went low carb and increased protein and ive lost a lot of weight off my belly.

Bjorkdidit · 15/04/2026 11:17

It's likely that many places will do finance or you can get a personal loan.

If you start saving now, you'll get used to how the payments affect your budget and you won't have to borrow so much if you go through with the procedure.

I had a tummy tuck and lipo done at the same time last year. I went with Transform and am very happy with the result. I think their upper BMI limit is 34? However the lower it is the better the result. Mine was 30 when I had mine done. They removed 6kgs of skin etc and did muscle repair also as I had diastus recti (SP?). So my BMI is now 28; but I have to be very conscious now to watch what I eat and not put weight back on. TBH I had already adopted a healthy diet so that bit is not a problem

Re your query about payment, yes I took out a loan and will be paying it back for the next 5 years !! However the op has been transforming, by tummy was actually 2 sizes bigger then the rest of me lol

tummytucklipo · 15/04/2026 14:25

I have used mounjaro already, I lost 2 stone, but put a stone back on annoyingly ! Dh won’t let me go on it again, don’t even know why, he thinks their is “safer” ways to do it.
My bmi is 27, overweight for my height. Even if I did go on mounjaro somehow that doesn’t fix my disastis recti. I also have a baller prolapse so I really think a tummy tuck with be good for all those reasons. Obviously I know I need to be in a healthy bmi, but losing a stone isn’t going to get my the shape I want

Mounjaro has to be less dangerous than having surgery!

And it really isn’t your husband’s decision…

whatifs1 · 15/04/2026 14:43

DH won’t let you? Fuck that. You do realise this is your body and not his ?

FWIW TT and lipo are not weight loss surgeries they are body contouring surgeries.

minipie · 15/04/2026 14:46

Diastasis recti surgery isn’t the same as a tummy tuck, you’d need both done.

For weight loss liposuction is quite limited (it’s really best for isolated fat pouches that remain despite weight loss) and I suspect has more safety risks than Mounjaro.

PennyPugwash · 15/04/2026 14:48

I also had lipo and and TT
you can play in instalments. I would highly recommend you get to your goal weight before this procedure.
Re your DH- tell him to do what he wants with HIS body and you’ll do what you want with YOUR body!!

Crwysmam · 15/04/2026 14:50

How about saving up. The reverse of paying off a loan. You actually earn interest while saving rather than paying interest. It would cost you less in the longterm. In the meantime continue trying to lose weight so you are closer to normal weight by the time you are in a position to pay for it.

Littlebitpsycho · 15/04/2026 14:53

Most places will offer finance, the main issue is your husband. Why is it up to him what you do with your body? If he doesn't want you to use mounjaro surely he won't be supportive of surgery either.

Many surgeons prefer you to be at your goal weight AND maintain it for 6 months before surgery - presumably if you regained weight quickly after your attempt with mounjaro you understand that it would affect the results of your surgery should you gain weight again?

You'd be much better off getting a personal loan than using medical finance, the interest rates tend to be much higher

SanctiMoaniArse · 15/04/2026 14:54

Does your husband have the final say over all your medical treatment? Because that isn't normal or acceptable...

Have you tried other things to heal Diastasis recti OP?

tummytucklipo · 15/04/2026 15:05

I think it comes from the right place, I did get quite low and depressed when i was on it but I know now it was because I could barely eat, so had zero energy.

I am doing deep core exercises but it’s never going to close completely. I also have pcos insulin resistance which makes things 10X harder

How many cm is your gap?

walkthedoggie · 15/04/2026 16:13

I had a TT with muscle repair in November, no lipo needed as I got myself to my goal weight with diet and exercise. A TT is not weight loss surgery. A TT absolutely repairs diastis recti, you’ll see it referred to as muscle repair. I weighed 56kg on the day of surgery with a BMI of 19.9 and my surgeon removed 1kg of skin. I had chronic pain from a csection 5 years before and my surgeon removed all of that scar tissue so I now have a soft smooth neat scar. I paid for mine by obliterating my savings but a lot of places offer financing. I went with a Spire Hospital but can’t recommend my excellent surgeon as he’s now retired. There is a Facebook group called ‘UK TUMMY TUCKS, Liposuction and Cosmetic Surgery Forum’ you’ll find everything you need to know on there, that group was an amazing resource for me. Someone posted above about Fulvio, there’s also Kat&Co who were my second choice. I hope things work out for you as this surgery has been life changing for me now that my diastis recti is repaired and my scar tissue is gone.

Isobel201 · 15/04/2026 16:32

Did you taper off slowly and stay on a low dose for a bit? I have been losing weight with mounjaro but its been slow because I have PCOS as well. I have an apron belly which I am not entirely sure will go back to normal on its own, but I'm trying to lose as much weight as possible.
