Best sleep ever?

When I’m trying to fall asleep I think about amazing sleeps I’ve had before. Really relaxes me. One of my best sleeps was a time I got home after being in hospital for a number of weeks. It was the middle of a winters day and the sun was slanting on my bed. The bedding was clean and smelt of lavender and was terracotta/ mustard/ turquoise. I had a shower and put on a clean long cotton nightshirt and my friend made me a strong cup of tea and honey on toast. She turned on a very gentle nightlight - at the time I was afraid of the dark The cat got into bed with me and o had the most perfect sleep to the sounds of my friend pottering around my house, making food, chatting to the dog, turning on lamps, lighting the fire. I felt so safe. Anyone else care to share?

When I’m trying to sleep I do deep timed/rytjmic breathing and think about my happy places. A campsite in Wales. Sitting on the boat dock on the river with my ferry in the cool water. The soy d off kids laughing. The smell of the bbq and the taste of a cold glass of wine. Or being on the beach in Sidari Corfu in May. The wet sand crunching under my feet ( I even crunch my toes in bed and I swear it helps!). The sun and a gentle breeze tickling my hair against my face. The smell of gyros and a strawberry daquiri in my hand. And the occasional whiff of chlorine from the towel in sitting on from the pool earlier on. The childhood river I used to play in, the smell of the petrichor in the woodland after rainfall. Very distinct pictures and I’m lucky my imagination is so vivid and I can conjure it up so easily.

I can’t remember a specific day like you can, but your post made me recall that blissful feeling on waking up from an exceptionally good sleep.

That wasn’t what you were asking people, I know. What I really came on to say is what an absolutely wonderful friend you have. And you can’t be too shabby for her to care about you that way 😬

I'm jealous. At 57 I haven't slept well for years. I'm often awake for 2-3 hours during the day night and rarely wake up feeling rested.

I do remember on holiday once in Lanzarote waking up in total darkness ( those hotel blackout curtains are amazing) and feeling content.

What a beautiful description, OP!
Daytime sleeps have a very luxurious quality to them.
I remember the first time babies slept through the night - waking up after an unexpected whole nights sleep-feeling amazing!
