Anybody recommend Sky Glass Gen 2?

Currently have a skyQ box but are out of contract.
Sky is getting very, very expensive but dh has films that hes paid for stored to the box so ideally we need to keep with sky.
Looking into streaming and in particular Glass gen 2.
Would you recommend it?
Are there drawbacks?
Is there an alternative that would allow dh to keep his films?

Would appreciate any thoughts on this.

Watching this thread with interest.

We currently have a SkyQ box and will be moving soon and want to switch to Sky Glass. We are the same though and have stuff stored on the box, films we have purchased that we would want to keep and I am not sure it we will just lose them if we switch to Sky Glass.

Also you can't set something to record on Glass as everything is streamed so we don't know how that will work either. I normally record the soaps and there are always shows I record that DH wouldn't like and watch on my own. I assume I would have to stream them now.

I know little about Sky Glass so would be good to hear from people who already have it.

I don't have gen2, but have had sky glass for
2 1/2 years now and we love it.

Films are saved to your sky account so you shouldn't lose them. If you can access them now on the sky go app then it should be all linked.

You don't need to set anything to record but you can add favourites to your list to find them more easily, but the voice recognition is pretty good so we use that rather than scrolling through.

The interface is pretty similar to Netflix/Disney+ etc as in you have 'continue watching', 'new to sky', 'recommended for you' etc.

The most awkward bit about sky glass is if you ever want to watch live TV. The TV guide and selecting channels is more cumbersome than "normal" sky. There's no channel up/down button on the remote for instance. The only thing we really watch live is the news though so it's not a massive deal for us.

My parents (late 70s) got sky glass shortly after us and get on well with it so it's pretty user-friendly.

I’m interested in this thread too. We are currently on SkyQ and thinking about going to sky Glass, but can’t make our minds up.

i had the old sky glass and it has no planner. i continually forgot what i wanted to watch/had watched some of and couldnt record anything. it’s literally for streaming only. no use for planning ahead and it’s there waiting.

so if you like a planner dont get it. stick with sky q.

i had already started paying for the sky glass tv and really liked it so i ended up keeping the tv and going back to sky Q as well. so now i have remote controls for each as they aren't designed to be used together (glass and Q i mean) and it’s a bit tricky to get them both switched on as the remote frequencies are the same. i’ve been thinking of contacting them to see if there is a new fix for this as it sometimes takes a few on offs to finally get both switched on at once. but that’s my only issue.

We asked the agent in our town centre kiosk to explain the lack of planner.
She said to write down everything we record normally on sky q and when we get sky glass just add them one by one to the favourites page. It will then pull up past, present and future showings.
Stil not sure how it's going to remind me though!
