NC for this because I'm scared lol!

Ds just turned 3 has found himself the very lucky owner of no less than 6 easter eggs.

I generally try to limit the amount of sweet things he gets and he's not massively bothered either, I actually think he has more of a savory tooth. So he's eaten one Easter egg plus the sweets that came with it over a couple of days but I won't lie the others are taunting me and he's not looked twice at them. Is mum Easter egg tax a thing or am I terrible!?

My kitchen has one cupboard for food storage, one for cups plates bowls etc and one for pots and pans and that's it. There is zero counter space. It drives me utterly mad because I love cooking/ baking. I don't get why so many newish build homes now have such awful storage/ counter space in the kitchens! So genuinely yes storage is a problem.

Bloody hell! 3 Cupboards in your kitchen? That's bonkers and purely profit driven by developers.

I used to melt them down when DD was small. I bought silicon ice cube trays which had various shapes and figures to make them into fun, easier to store chocolates. I’ve got stars, Lego men, hearts and even Easter egg shaped trays. Having the eggs melted down into chocolates was fun and it was far, far easier for me to eat quite a few without anyone noticing 😊

He's also up to 11 eggs after seeing extended family today.

Absolutely eat them. This is a lot of eggs and way too much for a toddler. For starters he probsbly can't count to 11? So he has no actual idea how many eggs he has ! For all the people that say " his eggs" .. does that mean OP can't finish the food he doesn't eat for dinner ? He's a toddler !! He does not know or care about the specifics of each egg. He has a few pieces of choc as a treat and that's plenty.
OP .. If you make a cake with icing it will use up a lot more chocolate. But add cocoa powder as the easter egg choc is usually a bit cheap (depending on egg ofc).

Isn't it just?? Drives me mad!! I did buy extra sideboards but I love to cook and bake so they're full of utensils and equipment.

Until 4 my daughter got no chocolate at all at Easter - we hid plastic eggs for the Easter egg hunt (which we have now combined with chocolate ones now she is older). Then she was allowed one egg over several days and the rest got put in the cupboard where she forgot about them and then we either at them or chucked them. To be honest she’s not that fussed about sweet things. Most sweets from Christmas/parties go in the cupboard and she never asks for them again….

We ate them all when our DC were small, they just had the buttons or whatever was inside.

I confess, I was intrigued as to how offensively strongly you appeared to feel about this topic!

I need that laughing reaction back! 😂

When my toddlers get tonnes of easter chocolate I swap some of them for little toys while they’re sleeping so they’re still getting something and dh and I don’t feel guilty about munching on them.

hahabahbag · 13/04/2026 15:33

How good is his maths, neither of mine by 3 would have let me get away with eating their eggs, they had chocolate maths mastered by 2

Tryagain26 · 13/04/2026 15:36

I wouldn't eat them because presumably someone has bought them for him.
I would give him a bit at a time over a few months and share them with him. So you get some but he gets to open them
