Feeling v sorry for myself - any tips?

I’ve come back from a week’s holiday and the stress of it all (long story) has left me so unwell. I have a bad UTI, which is being treated with antibiotics, but I also have the worst migraine. I’m on day 3 and usual strong painkillers like nuromol just aren’t cutting it.

I’m going to the pharmacy this morning to ask what else I can take to break it while on antibiotics but has anyone got any tips to manage the pain and nausea in the meantime?

I’ve barely slept since Monday due to the pain and I have to get my kids up and out to a holiday club soon. Just feeling so shitty. I’m self employed and have had to let clients down this week.

Travel sickness tablets /bands and cool n sooths are my go toos. Lots of fluids and mcdondals chips and a coke - swear by it.

Also I'd get your blood pressure checked due to the headache. They can work from that as well as the anti bios to see which over the counter meds you can take to feel better.

Nothing worse than a headache that won't shift ...actually that and toothache are the worst!

If your normal painkillers aren’t working you need to see a GP. Also get them to prescribe antiemetic to take at the start of every migraine even if you don’t feel sick. Aspirin is best for migraine ideally dispersible. I use white tiger balm on forehead, removes and neck. If you have any electrolytes or rehydration fluids take that. Some people put feet in bowl of hot water and put ice pack in forehead. Caffeine can also be helpful.

I will go back to the GP tomorrow if it doesn’t break today. It might be a side effect of my kidney infection so need to give the antibiotics another 24 hours to work too (although the pain in that area has happily subsided). I had my heart rate and temp checked at urgent care for the kidney infection but they didn’t do blood pressure for some reason.

Ask pharmacist for sumatriptan
that’s what you need for migraines

they can issue it with a few questions I believe.

Someone mentioned coke and chips and weirdly that’s good for me too but with a balance of staying hydrated. If you can off screens and close your eyes a much as possible too. Hope it eases

This happened to me, GP gave me an injection of pethedine and an anti emetic. Can you get some help with the kids and a GP appointment? Mine saw me straight away when I told them I had had a 48 hour migraine.

It’s settled to a mild ache with nausea this afternoon. I’ve got some stronger drugs from the chemist which I will take at bedtime - I have to drive later on to pick up the kids so don’t want to do that if it’s too sedative
