Extractions and immediate dentures- is anyone else currently going through this hellish experience?

As the title says, really. Had extractions and immediate dentures a few days ago, back to dentist today because I can't wear them due to the swelling from some of the extractions, one of which took ages and has traumatised the gums. The physical pain has been horrendous but the psychological effects are really huge. If anyone else is in the same boat right now would be good to know, or if you've been through it and come out the other side 🙈

I'm at the tail end of this now, just waiting for the final implant teeth to be made so I can get rid of the denture at last.
Are you on top of your pain meds? By that, I mean taking all the over the counter pain relief you can on a regular basis? A pharmacist can help you with this. Did you sleep sitting up to help with swelling? Keep the denture in for 36 hours after extraction? Don't rinse your mouth in a swish way.

The first couple of days are unpleasant but shouldn't be very painful if you're on proper meds and the clots haven't been dislodged.

Hi, yes I followed all the instructions to the letter; I can't have implants due to a combination of cost and poor bone, so I'll never have an option other than dentures. Pain relief and topical treatments all used. Its unfortunately more than unpleasant five days in- one of the extractions took 15 minutes so the gum is very swollen despite correct post extraction care.

I wonder if you have dry socket for the pain to be horrendous then?
I understand the psychological aspect, especially if you can't have implants. It's been hard. I hope your dentist can help you today.

Thanks. I don't think it's dry socket as I don't have any of the general symptoms (thankfully) just the extreme swelling at one of the extraction sites. Yes I hope so too.

If it's a temporary denture, they can cut away/hollow out bits that rub and fill them back in when the gum shrinks back. My dentist did that and it helped.
