Ideas for spending three hours near Victoria with two teenagers

As the thread title says. Visiting London this weekend we have approx 3 hours to spare around Victoria train station area Saturday afternoon. We are going to the theatre (Wicked) in the Evening and have restaurant booked before hand so want to be fairly close by. We have done Buckingham palace, Hyde park, big Ben, Harrods, natural history museum and St James park before so would prefer something slightly different. Two teens 15&13 dd1 isn't really interested in art galleries. We are towards Leicester Square the following day so will mooch about in some shops and things nearby then.

Get the boat to Greenwich

AwkwardPaws27 · 03/04/2026 09:20

I'd hop on the tube to Euston (about 10 mins) and visit the Wellcome collection. There's also the British Library or Grant Museum of Zoology (jar of moles, anyone?) by Euston too.

There’s a place called Lane 7 in Victoria St, about 10
mins away, with bowling, arcades, electronic darts etc

Battersea Power Station?

Daveyouronmute · 03/04/2026 09:34

When at Leicester Square you'll be near to Covent Garden and China Town, Soho. You've prob already thought of that. Don't forget to check out the Swiss automaton clock just off Leicester Square. It's on the front of a shop.

I agree with pp … Lane 7

MikeRafone · 03/04/2026 09:38

Virtual reality and there is on close by Victoria

DeathMetalMum · 03/04/2026 13:09

There's something exactly like lane 7 opening in our town centre during the holidays which we already plan to do. It does look great and probably would choose that otherwise.

I have looked at Battersea, but we have booked the London eye over the weekend so while the chimney lift looks great it's similar to that. We are traveling from Colliers Wood so also interested if there's anything further out possibly on the way into Victoria.

Victoria is dull, would use tube or bus or go on foot and go elsewhere! Depending on your interests.

A look round Brixton?
Think there are a no of walking tours round that area, general ones, food, music etc. Had a quick google and found eg “Brixton Music Walking Podcast Tour”

Westminster Cathedral? It’s free to get in. And an interesting building.

Get the boat to Greenwich

From Victoria?

gerispringer · 03/04/2026 13:54

Go one stop on the tube to Sloane Square and mosey down the Kings Road.

Plexie · 03/04/2026 13:58

It's a pity DD1 isn't interested in art galleries, because Tate Britain is fairly nearby.

Tube to South Kensington and go to the Victoria & Albert Museum? It's across the road from the Natural History Museum.

luckylavender · 03/04/2026 13:59

Or go to Green Park and hang out in Mayfair / Piccadilly

NeedToKnow101 · 03/04/2026 14:35

Go to Sloane Square and mooch around the shops. Pop into Saatchi Gallery as its small and the free exhibitions are quite good even if you’re not particularly into art.
