I think there needs to be a lot more transparency and if the BBC are in contact with the victim why isn't the victim first approaching the police with the view of new charges being pressed?

Also Scott mills would have been 24 in 1997 so having a rwalrioship with a teenager (17/18?) certainly isn't scandalous but now the press are paralleling photographs of a 53 year old man with statements of a teenage boy. Not maybe the most ideal reporting at least.

Well we simply know there were historical allegations which the look e thought weren't sufficiently evidenced. The allegations as far as we know may not have been th at strong. To my mind we have to be careful about precedents where allegations are acted on without strong evidence of else you have the situation where every high profile figure is open to malicious attack by individuals....in this case my feeling is that if the police did not find reasons even to ask the CPS to charge then you have to have at least some faith in the process and accept innocence.

The relationship might be tawdry, I don't know, but that isn't a reason to sack someone 🤷

If you consider all this in the context of a male perpetrator and a female victim, then there are countless examples of men being arrested, interviewed and released no further action 100s of times a day in the UK. Typically the police don’t take things to the CPS as there is an unrealistic prospect of prosecution - many times this is because there were no independent witnesses or if there were then they are not prepared to make a statement, likewise the victim doesn’t want to make a statement either and unless there is other evidence they can use to pursue the matter against the victims wishes, then they’ve got nothing to go on. It doesn’t mean nothing happened and it doesn’t mean the victim wasn’t telling the truth. It just means the evidence does not meet the threshold for prosecution and the police can’t take it any further.

I wonder if the alleged victim has re emerged now because he was triggered by the recent Huw Edwards drama?
