Are theses mock results a worry if based on a low/standard pass.

Dd is doing her GCSE these are her mocks see pic.

I don't understand how it works. I think a 4 is a basic pass?

Im not worried if dd gets low /standard pass as long as she passes. The worst case is she would have to retake in college. If she didn't pass. So obviously want her to pass. She has been offered a place at the college she chose if she fails she will do level 2 and retake English if she passes then she can do T levels.

Shes been under alot of stress and pressure that has lead to metal health and burn out. So im not going to put extra stuff onto her.

Based on getting standard passes are theres grades worrying ?

4 is a pass, she wouldn’t have to retake maths and English if she gets 4’s

No, these grades are not worrying. If she gets her predicted grades in the RH column, then she'll have 8 GCSE passes and will have enough for college entrance and many jobs etc. 4 is a standard pass, a low C in old money. Looks like the one she needs to work on most is English Language as a pass in that is a requirement. If she doesn't get a 4 she can retake in college. HTH?

She ideally wants to be getting 4s, to give her more opportunities and to prevent having to resit. It looks like her school uses a plus or minus system to shoe whether she’s a secure in that grade or not. I’d focus on getting the English grade as a secure 4.

Did she revise? I only ask because I did not and my mock grades were poor. I would have failed my GCSEs if they took my mock grades if they were just awarding and not doing the official exams

It looks like maths is relatively secure. English language is the one she ‘needs’ for college and employment (though, like you say, college will offer resits) so I’d suggest she focus her effort there.

Two key tips for English language:

1 - For the reading sections (first half of both papers) be absolutely clear about which questions are testing which skill. For Edexcel (for example), paper 1 question 3 tests ANALYSIS, but question 4 tests EVALUATION. The way you answer these questions is different. AQA and WJEC are the same in that you need to know which question tests which skill, but the order of the questions is different. She should have notes in her book about how to do so, or get the text book (for the right exam board) or use BBC Bitesize or similar.

2 - Have a plan for the imaginative writing section. This is worth 40 marks. For Edexcel, you can pretty much have a story in mind (and practise it, with engaging techniques, accurate punctuation, etc) and edit it for the question. If not an actual story, have a plan for your structure. Some pupils like 2-4-6-8-2. (A two line paragraph, then a four line paragraph, then a six line paragraph…)

I hope that helps.
