Has anyone tried hypnotherapy for weight loss, and what was it like?

Anyone ever had hypnotherapy for weight loss? Just wondering about your experiences, good or bad.

I did an app based one - it did work but I got bored of listening to the sessions and it stopped helping.

I did this, it worked briefly - I think you need lots of sessions, or an app that you can listen to to reenforce the message.

Didn't work for me but we all have different levels of susceptibility. It helped a bit with other issues that were work-related and for stopping smoking, so I concluded maybe I sub/unconsciously wasn't that bothered about losing weight so they couldn't unlock that in me. I mean, I did want to lose weight, but I also wanted to eat too much and it wasn't able to tackle that effectively alas. Only WJIs have really had an impact in turning off the wanting to eat too much thing.

Yes, twice. Neither time it worked (2 different therapists).
the first one worked for for a short while but the 2nd, I really should have asked for my money back as he was relying on me hating myself for being fat (I genuinely didn’t) so it was all about thinking you’re a pig when you eat etc. typing this out it sounds unreal, but it’s true!

If you can afford it try it, everyone is different, but if it doesn’t work don’t throw good money after bad!

This is awful! I’m a hypnotherapist and this is absolutely not the way I work or have been trained. Hypnotherapy for weight loss, or for any reason, is not a quick fix. I’d expect to see someone for at least 12 sessions.

Have a look for a solution focused hypnotherapist who holds minimum HPD qualification, but again, weight loss is a complex area and requires a shift in mindset which takes time. It’s not as simple as training yourself to hate food or hate yourself for eating which is shockingly bad advice and unsustainable anyway. We all have to eat and it’s something that should be enjoyed!

Edited

That's what I need help with - the wanting to eat too much thing and the constantly thinking about food thing!

Probably not as effective but I often listen to sleep hypnosis on Spotify. If you search on ‘weight loss sleep hypnosis’, selecting songs as a filter rather than podcasts, you get loads of different ones but without the annoying podcast adverts. They work really well with a cheap sleep headphone band from Amazon.

I used them a lot when I was losing weight and cutting back on alcohol. I now tend to use them when I feel I need a bit of a kick up the arse in terms of motivation, exercise, getting on with doing really boring stuff/housework etc, eg ‘motivation sleep hypnosis’, even some housework sleep hypnosis! I always seem to just get on with things better the next morning. Don’t know if it’s just psychosomatic, or because I’ve got to sleep a bit more quickly, or whether they actually work
