Can i ask those that have suffered a compression of a vertebrae, how long did it take to fully recover.
Did anyone not fully recover and how has it affected you.

It's been horrendous, I'm six weeks on and still no sign of being able to return to work.

L1 and a few years later T12. Both times v severely wedged.

Easing after 3/4 weeks, all well by 12. Keep moving and resting and physio guided pilates. 500 naproxen x 2 and 30/500 co-codamol week 1/2. Heated wraps.

L1 I had three weeks off; T12 a cpl of days but wfh.

Pay for physio and a neurologist if you can and make sure you have a good, firm, orthopaedic mattress.

Mine is L1. Was horrendous for first 3/4 weeks, had to be lying down or pain was insufferable. I needed so much help in that time.

It's so much better now but if I'm on my feet too long I get really sore and I'm on my feet all day in my job so not ready for going back just yet.

Hospital didn't even tell me, I found out from my GP when I called them fearing they had missed something on the xray.

Thanks for the advice

Get well soon. Good wishes.
Also, have you been referred to rheumatology for a dexa scan. V important.

No I haven't. There's been no follow up mentioned at all.

Depends on the episode. I’d say my last one lasted around 12 weeks to return to some sort of normality.

Please contact your GP and ask for a dexa scan. This type of fracture ofyen arises from osteoporosis and the sooner treatment fkr that starts the better.

I've never had anything like this before, it was the result of a fall on ice. Maybe that's why there's no follow up.
I will mention to gp though.

@oOiluvfriendsOo which would be regarded as a low impact fall, from standing.

Many Trusts don't refer as routine and it's therefore really important to follow up yourself. Much can be avoided in the future with right approach now.

I hope you don't have osteoporosis and that you get better soon.

If you have some money to throw at it, it's also important to strengthen your core and have some physio. My physio did guided pilates for me. I would swerve the pulates classes at the local gym. I am convinced that is why I have no chronic pain. You can start that now.

Thank you I will definitely follow it up.
Hopefully it's not another thing to add to the list from the last 2 years.
