How much money for a good short trip to Rome?

How much would you expect to pay for a nice three nights in Rome, one adult, one teen, separate rooms needed? Flights and accommodation. Not a budget trip, not luxury

What time of year? Makes a huge difference. I paid £89 a room last time I went (2 years ago) but it was in term time

in the next couple of months. Would £2,000 cover everything?

Finger in the air I would have thought £600 accommodation and £400 for flights + £400 spending money, so less than you but getting there. Will depend on time of year, where in Rome, what hotel. £2000 sounds ample.

Cue the "I did it for £12.50" and the "You can't possibly do Rome on less than £10000" posts...

Yes! There are always extremes 😂

Its for a gift, so just want to be sure it’s right

Pretty sure there's a tourist tax that you pay the hotel on departure as well these days. I think it's per person per night and depends on the hotel's star rating. It sounds like a lovely gift OP

My starting price for anywhere in Europe is £1000, that's for two of us to park at the airport, fly with booked seats in economy, luggage in the hold, a hire car for a week and a b&b hotel stay. Add to that eating out, attractions, visits trips etc. I have found that a pretty reliable rule of thumb for costings.

Thank you, I think factoring in a bit more for two rooms, no car hire, £2k should make for a nice time

We are doing a similar trip, although only one room required. It’s costing about £700 pp for flights and a triple room in a four star hotel. We booked late due to work messing us about over dates. When I first looked it was about £500pp. That’s in school holidays.
