I'm alone in the house. I have been for the past week. Yesterday my house suddenly started smelling of bacon. I haven't cooked any bacon.

What smells of bacon? I keep getting a whaft of it. There are worse things to smell but I am a bit confused.

Clean your chimney and see if it goes away. Water and soot can smell like bacon.

This would be my concern in case something is overheating, the smell is usually described as fishy but bacon could possibly be adjacent?!

Could you be pregnant? Can get funny smells before the test confirms. 😊

Sulphur horse fly spray smells of bacon

I have been in a building recently that had been treated for rats by pest control… there is now a carcass somewhere… smells of pork scratchings to me… hope it’s not that!

Oh god I hope not. We do have cats and they are ferocious hunters. A couple of weeks ago they did bring in an enormous dead rat. I'm generally good with rodents but even I squealed and made DH dispose of it.

Does it still smell? Can other people smell it? Is it stronger in one place than others?

It will be the fire I reckon. Our log burner can smell smoky/bbq type occasionally.

Yes, that'll be it. It's around this time of year that piglets leave their mothers and venture off and dig their own nests, listen out for pork scratchings and crackling noises.

Also take a trip to the docs if it persists. Can be a sign of something but can’t remember.
