Food Processor Recommendations

RCOR · 26/03/2026 21:26

Hi everyone, I would be grateful for some food processor recommendations. I was given the gift of a Ninja soup maker/blender. The person who bought it for me thought they were replacing what I had before. However what I had before was a stick blender, so the gift was quite an upgrade😆.

I've always wanted a food processor but would never justify buying one. This seems like a good opportunity to get what I would really like.

I had a look at the Ninja food processor but i think it has too many jugs and attachments. I'd probably only end up using 1 and the rest would be taking up space. I also saw a really neat KitchenAid but have no experience of kitchenaid kit. Grateful for any suggestions. Thanks.

Hopeful bump?

I've got a magimix. It was expensive at the time, but I've had it over 20yrs and it's as good as it was the day I bought it (blades still sharp, motor still powerful). Weighs a ton though, so really nice and solid but not ideal if you are lifting it in and out cupboards.

The Ninja would be a no from me and I have one. I love my Kitchenaid.

Kenwood. I've had one for decades and both my DCs have them too. Mine is a big old beast but one DC has a neat one with decent capacity and a much smaller footprint. You can easily by additional bits if you need them. I'd avoid KitchenAid at all costs. The modern ones are expensive and not well made.

SleepingisanArt · 27/03/2026 17:59

I meant buy not by!

AnneLovesGilbert · 27/03/2026 17:59

I love my Kenwood. Had it 10 years and use it several times a week. It’s brilliant. I noticed the blade was getting a bit blunt recently - I chop a lot of nuts - and contacted them to ask about a replacement and bought one for £6.

Magimix for me. Have considered a stand mixer as well but I think that would encourage me to eat more cake and biscuits so am avoiding the temptation for now.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 27/03/2026 18:07

Magimix!

Eatinpeachesonthebeaches · 27/03/2026 18:08

I have the 4200 xl too. Used mainly for bread dough, grating vegetables and cheese and making breadcrumbs. Have it out on the worktop as its a good looking machine .

SooooAIBU · 27/03/2026 18:52

I love my Magimix. It’s my favourite household appliance! 🤣

Cluckycluck · 27/03/2026 18:56

I love my Kitchenaid one. Everything packs neatly inside it, the lid comes off and can be changed to a storage one. It also dices which is amazing. It's easy to clean too.

I love it so much I bought a little one too.

Missmillymollymandy · 27/03/2026 18:58

Magimix.
My original lasted 35 years and I only replaced it last year when I could no longer source a replacement plastic bowl.
The new one is good, has more fancy blades and graters, but I preferred my old no frills model.

itswindyoutside · 27/03/2026 19:12

I've had a Magimix for over 30 years. The initial outlay is a lot, but it's a brilliant machine. If you want it to do even more, look at the Magimix Cook Expert which also makes soup from start to finish and comes with a food processor. They are quite big though and you need room to store the accessories. There's a free app you can download which shows the range of food it will make - like stir-fries, risottos, Hollandaise sauce, stews...

RaininSummer · 27/03/2026 19:14

I've got a ninja but the one without extra jugs. Mine has got the big goblet for chopping, pureeing etc, two disks for grating, slicing etc. Two blades. A sharp and one for cake mix or dough.

RaininSummer · 27/03/2026 19:15

It was actually half price at Argos recently. Not sure if offer is still on.

BluePoet · 27/03/2026 19:24

This!

ValBiro · 27/03/2026 22:19

Magimix here too. It was a bit extravagant outlay when I bought it 20 years ago. I broke the motor approx 12 years in messing around using it incorrectly making bread, and they replaced the motor for me. Sturdy and dependable!

https://www.magimix.co.uk/food-processor/26-129-4200xl.html#/27-colour-satin <this is the one I have. 30 year guarantee on the motor. I doubt you get that with many other brands!

I've got this one and I hate it. Yes it's powerful and has a long guarantee, but it's incredibly heavy and the multiple bowls are so unnecessary and get dirty. It's been used maybe 5 times in 15 years, that's how much I dislike it Grin

I inherited a Kenwood from my Mum. Love it.

thenightsky · 27/03/2026 22:24

Mine is a Moulinex bought as a wedding present in 1980, so I doubt they make that model anymore. I use it every week and its still going strong. But I don't put any part of it in the dishwasher.

Choose wisely OP. From the look of this thread, food processors last decades.

Exactly this! I have had mine for 20 years and would replace it tomorrow. It’s a workhorse and used loads.

I do also have a KitchenAid which, whilst it looks beautiful, isn’t used nearly
as as much as my Magimix.

It does depend what you think you’ll use it for though.

I have my mother in laws Magimix . I’ve sourced replacement bowls through
ebay in the past but it’s so old now the next time the bowl needs replaced that will be it. I have a newer version in the loft but I prefer the old one . She gave me one as a present thirty years ago and that lasted very well too. I would recommend them.

RCOR · 28/03/2026 11:39

Thank you so much everyone. The Magimix definitely seems to be coming out on top.

I saw a Sage Paradise 9 this morning. Very tempting as everything fits neatly inside and includes a chop function. I hurt my wrist with the manual version so this function is tempting.

I am somewhat limited by what is available in Currys as that's where my gift was purchased.

Thank you all again. Appreciate the recommendations.
