Vertigo - what helped you cope

Vertigo
Has anyone suffered from Vertigo. Real vertigo - the whole world is spinning / stop the ride I want to get off
Nausea and vomiting
I have just had it for 3 days. No relief from anti nausea tablets.
Is there anything a doctor can do?

Just looking for advice not medical info.

I had it about 10 years ago - truly awful with the worst being the room spinning when it's dark and you have your eyes shut.
I did go to the doctor and got some tiny little tablets, all I can remember is they began with P.
My friend was recommended the Epley manoeuvre which she did, but said it was the worst feeling she'd ever had in her life although it subsided and cured the vertigo.

Hope you get something to sort it out.

You can sometimes get relief from the Epley Manoeuvre, if your vertigo is caused by rogue particles in your inner ear. I have just recovered from post viral labrynthitis and the Epley Manoeuvre made me feel much worse. Mine took 7 weeks to fully resolve but I could do most things after 3 weeks. I spent the first two weeks mostly in bed with my eyes closed.

I had travel sickness tablets for mine which did help quite a lot but I could barely stay awake.

Thank you for advice.
Chemenger, that must have been truly awful for you.
So debilitating, can’t drive, of course, can’t cook, can’t eat, let alone household chores.
Tinnitus has been a lot worse, so think it’s related to ear crystals.
I will see a physio if it happens again for the maneuvre.
Its only been 2 months since the last episode.

It depends on the cause OP- there are various causes from migraine, inner ear issues, BPPV, strokes and all sorts. I sympathise because its absolutely awful.

Last year I woke and couldn't walk without holding the walls! The room was spinning and I was almost falling over. I tried the Epley manoeuvre myself and vomited multiple times. The only relief was lying down and trying to sleep. It lasted days, but each day was slightly better. 2 weeks later, the same happened again so I saw my GP. She ruled out various things. One test was tipping me back and watching my eyes- if they flick back and forth (nystygmus), it would have indicated I think BPPV. Mine didn't do that, so she said it was likely a vestibular migraine. I tried the anti-sickness med promethazine she prescribed, but it did nothing. Luckily as the week wore on, it improved.

Long story short, I'd had dental work before this all started and once it was sorted- I've never had it since. Apparently grinding your teeth at night can be another cause. If that's the case, you can buy guards to help. A friend had BPPV and suffered for months, despite doing the exercises herself. Eventually they put her onto a tilting bed which sorted it within minutes!

I'm not one to run to my GP, but like you, I'd be seeing them if it happens again. Wishing you all the best x
