Not a taat but off the back of a thread about women who are "anti hrt" - I'm technically in menopause now (last period in summer 2024) and didn't go for hrt as beyond the odd hot flash and a bit of weight gain/muscle loss from doing feck all reduced activity and energy levels, I didn't really feel I needed it, however I'm now getting worried about the dreaded vaginal atrophy 😱 has anyone experience of using Just the topical gel for this and that alone?

Also curious as to whether, should I change my mind, one can start hrt after menopause, and what are the potential benefits/risks (& will it restore my old lady metabolism 🙈)?

Anyone help?

Thank you so much for all the information and advice (barring the odd unhelpful and completely irrelevant attempt to divert the thread with pedantry - yes, looking at you @LiviaDrusillaAugusta 👀🤦🏼‍♀️)
And I now know what a kegel is too 😂

Thanks again, all and here's to healthier, long lived and vibrant 'ginas! 💗💗😂

Interesting to read all the experiences. I'm puzzled by me though! I'm 68 and never took HRT or any vaginal estrogen and never had an issue at all, no itch, pain, utis, urgency to wee and so on. I don't have sex now and don't want to anymore, no partner and am happy with that before anyone has a go!

Anyways, I had spotting recently and had the dreaded hysteroscopy (I insisted on GA) where they discovered multiple polyps so excised them. The report says this and also states that I have very atrophied vagina and cervix. Who knew!

So back in a few days for pathology (hoping all is ok with the endometrium and polyps). Since the surgery six weeks ago I have been in bits. Weeing constantly, itching, sore, and feel like there's a tampon stuck up there. Honestly if I hadn't had things checked I would have sailed along.

I suppose I'll be given estrogen cream or whatever. I don't mind, if it helps I'll take it, but it's mad that it's only after the surgery that I'm getting all the symptoms! I know there will be some discomfort post surgery, but still.....

Yes, I started after menopause as my symptoms became physical as well as emotional.

You can use Gina in it's own though.
