Phone number when you don't wish to give it?

Does anyone know please, if there might be a fake number to give on those forms where you have to give it, to receive insurance quotes etc? Not official forms of course. Happy to be contacted by email but I really do not wish to give my number every time! It's private, plus I have a slight speech impediment too and rarely speak by phone.

I just don't answer my phone unless I know who's calling.

I swap two numbers around.

Same here but I don't wish to give it out to all and sundry in the first place.

Veepn.com gives you a random phone number and 10minutemail.com gives you a random email address inbox which is active for 10 minutes.

Both are free and give you 10 mins free to receive emails or SMS for verification codes when you don't want to sign up to websites with your actual email or phone number.

I’ve just looked at this and it is £1.99 a month for the basic package where you can get alternative emails and phone numbers.

I just put in as many zeroes as there are digits in a phone number. It's usually accepted as most entry fields are only set to show an error message if you put in anything other than a numerical character.

Does anyone remember the flirt divert number Scott Mills had when he did radio 1 drive time? Wonder if that number is still active?

I've tried this. It's not accepted sadly.

I swap two numbers around.

But then a random person will be bothered. 😞

I change the last 3 or 4 digits of my number to 0.

SleepingisanArt · 05/04/2026 19:30

I use one of the numbers my phone flashes up as either a scammer or 'potential fraud' usually someone claiming to be from British Gas or BT or whoever. I hope they get lots of calls 🤣🤣🤣

If you can give a landline, I give the number for the head office of the company in question.

Nice! I like that!
