Help with toddlers eczema

Can anyone recommend a good cream that’s suitable to use on my toddlers face? He has hydrocortisone for flare ups on his body but I don’t want to use it on his face. We also use epiderm 3x per day. He is outside a lot and his cheeks and chin are chapped and red raw, bless him.

Poor mite.

Moo Goo Pink Eczema cream works for me ( but I am in my 60s). It’s suggested as an alternative to steroids and I also use Epaderm on top as they suggest.

If you try it, do a test patch on his neck first.

Maybe he needs a sun block?

I would use a short course of the hydrocortisone- it’s what it’s for

Our eldest had incredibly bad eczema when young we had the next strength up - eumovate? steroid and once went the next one higher for a short burst

He’s a 6footer a’level student now

once flare up is under control then go back to emollient

I would use hydrocortisone but keep it far away from any ‘normal’ skin. As long as it only touches the eczema it would be okay but I’m presuming this is under doctors guidance. And he needs a dermatology referral if he hasn’t had one already

My 4yo is having a flare up right now on elbows, thighs and face. Dr has advised to use Eumovate (not sure of spelling) on all the patches. We’re only on day 2 but it’s working well.

When it’s not in a flare we use an aveeno cream although for a while he used my Cerave cream on his face and that worked pretty well.

We also have an emmollient here which dr said to put on his face but it’s quite greasy and he kept rubbing it into his eyes by accident so we avoid his face with it now.

also look into water softener

Weve been told to use it on the patches on my 6month olds face to get it under control then contibe with zerobase

Aveeno baby soothing relief. But we had to go through many to find one suitable. You should find the cause. Mine had terrible skin until we got allergy testing. 6 months after those foods were gone his skin was clear. Still sensitive so it got itchy if he sweated loads in creases, but that was it. Was life changing. Also look at cotton loose organic clothing and washing with non bio with extra rinses.

Would you go back to the gp with it or will they think I’m a time waster? He’s not even 2 yet and his body is covered. He first got it when he was 12 weeks old and we were given hydrocortisone. I had bad eczema as a child as well.

Meant to say I use surcare and wash his clothes separately, I tried limiting baths but he gets absolutely filthy at nursery!

Make sure you moisturise straight after bath, but yes back to gp. I had it as a child too and a young adult. It wasnt until I got skin prick testing and changed diet that mine cleared. Gps are reluctant to do allergy testing, you will have to push hard but its worth it.

Goodness me, covered in eczema?! Of course go back to GP! It would be inhumane for a GP to leave a child covered in eczema and not do every possible thing to try to improve it - I think you should ask for a dermatology referral

Also never ever worry about what a doctor will think When you are advocating for your child
