Give your head a wobble

I've not been on mumsnet for ages.

Is this appropriate to say? As a gentle take stock and look at the wider picture or scenario?

I know that when I started a thread a short while ago about expressions used on MN that really irritate and annoy them " Give your head a wobble " was suggested by at least one poster as being very annoying.
So it's definitely used but not with everyone's blessing!

It made zero sense to me when I first encountered it on here. I eventually, through context, worked out what it meant.

That and wind your neck in, although that makes a bit more sense logically.

I always see it as someone saying come pull yourself to your senses but in a kind way.

To me it has always meant that you are instructing someone to shake their marbles into some semblance of order. So a bit rude.😂

@begonefoulclutter

What's a nicer way of saying shake your marbles and get some semblance of order please?

I'm reading such awful vitriolic responses on here.

Not the supportive forum it used to be.

I'm sorry, but I'm afraid I don't understand what you're talking about.

What do you mean, 'awful vitriolic responses' - where?
