Positive stories of starting over in mid 30s

I’m 34 are currently going through a horrible break up. I won’t be ready to date for a while but plan to again. I’ve always wanted to settle down with someone and have a child and am devastated that in feel like I’ve missed my window. It’s adding a whole extra dimension to the break up grieving process.

Any positive stories from people who started over in their mid 30s would be very much appreciated.

Hello, I was single for most of my 30’s then got together with my partner when we were both 39. We had a child at 44. It took a while to conceive so we were lucky.

You’ve every chance of finding love again when the time’s right. There’s nothing stopping you having a casual fling or two if it helps.

A hopeful bump. Starting to think there may not be many positive stories to share!

Main thing I’d do now is freeze your eggs. This will give you more time.
And - I’d not measure your life by having or not having met the One.

If you really do want to have kids - I’d give it a serious consideration to give yourself a few years to date, and then have a child via IVF in your later 30s. Your younger eggs will make it a lot more successful than starting the process with older eggs.

You have many years to meet a partner. But timing of having a kid is more limited. And I’d not give fate this much power over you. You cant control when you meet the right partner. But you CAN control when you have a child - if you decide that is what you want.

Breakups happen. It’s painful, but you’ll heal
and move on.

2 year relationship ended when I was 35. Completely blind-sided me, I thought things were going well. Met my partner 6 months later - the old cliche that you find someone when you're not looking proved to be true. We are still together 10 years later with a 5 year old child. I know plenty of others who have met partners in their late 30s/40s.

I got divorced at 35 and it was in utter despair. I was 40 when I met now DH in a supermarket. We got married two years later. I got pregnant two months after that. . You haven’t missed your chance-you will be fine. Take a breath. Try not to worry. I know it’s hard but it will all work out.
