Best pan for pancakes?

Hello all - I’m on the hunt for a pan that is amazing for pancakes (British crepe style ones).

I’ve always made good pancakes but the ancient unbranded pan I used that was a gift gave up the ghost last year and I bought a whole replacement set from Procook. Sadly my pancakes keep sticking to them and being ruined. I’ve never had that issue and have tried different heats, fats, pancake thicknesses and pan sizes. Ruined!

If you have a perfect pancake pan please tell me what it is. My family is horrified by the mishappen lumps I am serving them.

Oddly my cheap (£2 5 years ago) Ikea pan makes the best pancakes and french style omelettes. It’s light, so thin metal, and still non stick, I only use it for these sorts of things (and making homemade chapattis or similar) crucially not for stir frying. It’s 20cm.

(My procook heavy weight pans are good for other types of cooking)

I use a small frying pan I got in my local hardware/homewares shop. It was advertised as non-stick. I always hand wash, it because I think the dishwasher is quite harsh on non-stick surfaces.

I use a cheapo non-stick pan from Lidl. Beat some melted butter into the batter. A teaspoon of sunflower oil into the hot pan then add the batter & swirl. Leave it, & when it releases it’s ready to flip. Works perfectly.

I would also like suggestions as like the op, my excellent former crepe pan finally gave up.
The pan I replaced it with has sides which are too steep and I find it hard to get the spatula under the crepe to flip.

Ive always used a Tefal red spot pancake pan and my pancakes are family famous! This is the current one in use Tefal Easy Cook and Clean... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08648XL6L?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

About a year ago I bought a Hairy Bikers branded pancake pan from TK Maxx/HomeSense, which is really good, £14.99. I also bought a Tefal pancake pan in Tesco just before pancake day this year, £12.99, which is also good and doesn’t stick.

@CharlotteFlax @RoseLavenderBlue many thanks for those suggestions.

I have a carbon steel pan that I bought in Ikea, which I've seasoned and don't ever clean with washing up liquid - I just wipe it and then season again. It's really good for things like pancakes.

OK so looks like I need to find a random cheap pancake pan in a shop of miscellaneous items to get the ideal pan.

I do exactly that. In my old pan - perfect. In my new pans they stick. Please don’t imagine I’m just crap at pancakes I’ve been making them without issue for a decade!

Thanks but Tefal use PTFE which is a PFA and DH refuses to eat any food made on them 🙄

I use a saucepan (buttered) then flip into a normal frying pan. Keeps it the right shape!

My saucepans are the same Procook set as the frying pans unfortunately

I recently bought a Russell Hobbs pancake pan after my previous pan lost all it's non-stock properties. It was only cheap but it's worked very well so far.

Tesco sells pancake mix, we just have to add water. I was thinking of getting it myself. I will one day.

I make pancakes most Sundays, so I got two identical own brand pancake pans from John Lewis/Waitrose. They were very reasonably priced (can't remember how much now as it was a fair few years ago, but they were on offer), are fairly lightweight but strong, non-stick and work a treat. I add a bit of oil to the batter but otherwise no fat to the pans, and I rarely wash the pans with detergent - a good wipe down is sufficient. When they come to the end of their good use, I will likely turn to John Lewis/Waitrose own brand again.
