Do you wait or drive home?

Tomorrow my DD has a club & then rehearsals from 9.30am - 2pm. It’s 30 mins drive away. Then she’s got to be at the theatre for a performance at 5pm. That’s near the club so a similar distance. The show starts at 7pm so I’ll need to be there for that time.

ill definitely drive home in the morning but not sure its worth it in the evening too. it’s so much driving! What would you do?

do you usually wait in the car (or go somewhere else?) whilst your DC are in clubs or similar , or do you go home?

I would do something that I needed to do anyway: a supermarket shop or join a gym near one of these activities.

Doing those return trips is 4 hours driving.

I’d probably stay and take some uni work, a book, have some lunch, a walk etc. Maybe do some shopping.

That's a long day, and a lot to be doing on one day.
How old is she ?

If my dc were in a show in the evening and needed to rehearse before that, I'd be giving a lot of consideration to them missing the morning activities.

However, as a more general question, if the activities weren't something you would generally support / watch - like a sports match or competition - then I would have communicated with other parents and shared pick ups and drop offs rather than yoyoing to and fro.

Other factors would be what the other dc were doing; what dh was doing; if we were busy all week and needed to fit everything into Saturday or not.

Almost 11. It’s all through the same theatre club so can’t really let her ditch half of it! I think everyone else is much more local so no way of lift sharing. She loves it so much though so I’m happy to trek.

the theatre has a bar so I’m sat in here scrolling , warmer than in the car!

Ohhhh lord we have this. A 2 hour wait outside the dance studio or 2 extra 25 mins drives.

In the summer i drive home rather than wait. Sounds mad but driving the country lanes round here in the sunshine is lovely on a summer evening and i di a few chores and go back for her.

But utterly miserable the rest of the time. Dark, pot holes, rain, snow, branches down, dazzling headlights, other drivers doing 2 miles an hour or up your arse. At this time of year i take DDs i pad for a film, a blanket, grab a hot choc at the Costa in the petrol station on the way and chill in the car for 2 hours!

Sounds like a win! Hope the show goes well.

A gym or swimming pool? Catch up on sleep on the backseat, podcast, meal planning, laptop and work?
