Just that really, what do you use?

Car shampoo, some hot water and a scrubbing brush.

Griselinia · 11/03/2026 15:01

Baby wipes - works well, although I've never looked into whether it's a good idea or not.

sorrynotathome · 11/03/2026 15:02

Nothing - I just let it live.

It’s moss.

It’s a microenvironment.

Let it live 😅

IsawwhatIsaw · 11/03/2026 16:14

Washing up liquid , hot water and scourer

PauliesWalnuts · 11/03/2026 16:17

I only wash my car (I know) when it goes to the garage. Did it at the weekend and cleared mine off with one of those washing up brushes with a scraper bit at the end (I also use that to wash my bicycle which unlike my car is treated with Muc-Off and tender loving care :-) )

CarCarCare · 11/03/2026 18:20

Thanks all. Is there any way to prevent it happening in the future?

OP posts:
Griselinia · 11/03/2026 18:39

Keep it washed regularly 😂

Yes, get some of these to absorb the moisture, they do work!

No I don’t think there is, it grows in moist conditions.

It might damage the polish/paint surface but a wipe with Jeyes fluid now and then?

This, and possibly algae. Carbon offsetting!

ThereWeAreThensmileyface · 11/03/2026 18:57

Dont park it under trees.
The obvious - wash it more often.

Sorry, we get it on one of our cars also - guilty of both the above.

AMillionTomorrows · 11/03/2026 19:11

At least wait until after St Patrick’s Day!

TalulahJP · 11/03/2026 19:43

i take it you mean on the outside of the car. not the inside? if it is inside youve got a problem.

CarCarCare · 11/03/2026 19:59

Yes, outside

OP posts:
CurlyhairedAssassin · 11/03/2026 20:02

Meh, my car's never been washed. It's 8 years old. My friend's car was many years old and they never washed it either. Both silver. You don't see the dirt until you get really close up. It probably forms a protective layer from acid rain and rust 😆

WhyamIinahandcartandwherearewegoing · 11/03/2026 20:19

@CarCarCare ah sorry the beanbags are for inside 😂

Don’t live on a cold damp island?

(I like to think of my car moss as a mobile terrarium)
