What would you like for Mothers Day?

As the title suggests. What would you like this year?
I have 3 young children so it is down to DH to organise.

I’d be happy with a bottle of fizz, some mini eggs and homemade cards (I know nursery and school do this).

Extra’s welcome…a lie in, coffee waiting for when I wake and to do absolutely nothing all day.

For our eldest to put in a full day revision for his a’level mocks next week without any nagging required

for youngster to support this by researching his debate argument alongside

Peridot1 · 14/03/2026 12:03

That sounds very hard @LoudPlumDog. Hugs to you.

DS is in his 20s and still lives here. I told him yesterday that I’d really like him to come for a walk with me tomorrow and he agreed. Then asked if that meant he didn’t have to get me anything…. I said I would leave that to him! He’s been to Sainsburys this morning so I suspect he has bought me something.

He has been a bit down and quiet lately so I’m hoping the walk will lead to a good chat about what’s happening with him.

For my 14 year old daughter to be magically cured of her eating disorder and back home where she belongs rather than the CAMHS eating disorder residential unit she’s currently living at. But other than that, a lie in, coffee made for me all day and maybe something nice for lunch.

I’m really really sorry @SendTheNextOneIn. I understand, my adult child is currently inpatient and I’d give a kidney, or an arm or a leg to have them home and well with me tomorrow. The pain is off the scale. Sending love to you.

I’d like to see my boys.

One is overseas, but the other will be working in a lovely bakery/coffee shop- I’m going to surprise him, have a cake, and go for a nice walk with the dogs whilst I’m there (it’s about an hour and a half from here).

I’ll FaceTime my eldest and DIL, and get to see my grandson too!!

For someone to remember

Me too ………🤗

HalfasleepChrisintheMorning · 14/03/2026 12:34

I’m going on a spa weekend in May and I have asked DH to pay for a treatment.
DS has got me some chocolates in a cat tin.
DS is making fish tacos for tea.

We’re having coffee and cream cakes with my mum tomorrow morning. Not sure what DH has planned for MIL..

I would most of all like to a tidy house and bless them, DS and DH are doing that now.

Turnerskies · 14/03/2026 12:36

I'd like not to have to cook. I do usually get taken out but not this year.

Wishineversmoked · 14/03/2026 14:55

I’d love my mother😞😞 it’s been two years I miss her dreadful ❤️

BarryManilowsWardrobe · 14/03/2026 17:02

I would quite like to not be having a miscarriage, but unfortunately here we are.

On a less depressing note, I’d like a few hours peace, some flowers and a cup of tea. DS has made me some flowers at nursery which are lovely, so I’m very lucky really.

namechanged3210 · 14/03/2026 17:27

My favourite flowers (tulips) or a rose for the garden. A cake, or some nice biscuits and lunch together.

mellongoose · 14/03/2026 18:24

I’d like breakfast in bed but not too fussed either way.

We will be going out for lunch with DD11, DM and DMIL so will be lovely. Just want a happy family day.

NovemberMorn · 14/03/2026 18:25

I would like just one more day with my mum, to tell her all the things I didn't say when she was alive.

elm26 · 14/03/2026 18:32

My DD started preschool in January and brought home a beautiful handmade card and a small ceramic paint pot she’d painted with some cress seeds in it and honestly, it’s made my Mother’s Day/week.

DH always gets me a card from both children usually from Moonpig or similar with photos on and some lovely words, I always have a lay in and DH arranges a surprise day out that includes lunch or dinner somewhere (last year we went to the farm then for a Sunday roast).

So a card, a lay in and cuddles in bed when I wake up then a family day out is the best 🥰

My mother passed, but i remember the good moments, but i also move on from the death because its old news. Old news can drag us down not uplift us up.

rainbowstardrops · 15/03/2026 07:42

Just wanted to say I’ve remembered you @Monsterslam. 💐☕️🍫
Hoping your loved ones have too x

DemonsandMosquitoes · 15/03/2026 07:42

A bunch of flowers and some fancy hot chocolate. And that’s what I got.

PersephoneParlormaid · 15/03/2026 07:43

To have all of my children take me out for a meal and sit round a table together . Unfortunately two of them don’t speak, so it will never happen.

My daughter is two, and I highly suspect my OH has forgotten. So I suspect I'll be getting nothing.

I bought some chocs and cards for mine and his mum, but I doubt I'll get anything. If I bring it up he'll probably say something like "well, your not my mum" 🙄

Well his mums not yours and you still bought for her? Knock that on the head. I mean, it’s not funny really. Sad.

Greendiamondbee · 15/03/2026 07:54

Would've loved a coffee in bed, but alas, I've put the first lot of washing on, made my own coffee, and sat the children down for their breakfast. OH is asleep.

Do absolutely nothing for fathers day!

I hope it isn't even on your radar.

FindingMeno · 15/03/2026 08:39

I forgot it was Mother's Day until I was presented with flowers so it was a lovely and unexpected surprise.
I thought it was next weekend or something.
Honestly, a "Happy Mothers Day. Love you" is enough.

AuldWeegie · 15/03/2026 09:10

This may sound a bit cracked, but I would like my DC and DGC to show any appreciation/love for me by turning up all together and removing all their crap, putting furniture etc where I want it, while DH and I direct operations and drink tea.

There would be no side-eye, no eyerolls, no mutterings under their breath. No door slamming or squabbling. Just do it.

It would all be finished by teatime, and we would sit down to eat together at a table with flowers.

Then they would leave. With. Their. Stuff.

And I’d probably give them each a twenty cos I’m soft that way.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 15/03/2026 09:14

I was looking forward to a leisurely brunch at home which is what I’d been promised and a nice card. But DS and DH got up and sorted it out at 8am. I have gently, and out of DS’s earshot pointed out that hot food does not turn breakfast into brunch when it’s served at 8am… So now i’m tired due to early start and feel sluggish due to heavy food so early. But I am grateful for DS’s thought - he’s planned out the whole day. I just wish it hadn’t started so early…

A bunch of daffodils.
Our kitchen always looks so much brighter with a bunch of flowers in the window. I usually buy my own throughout the year, but have mentioned it to both dcs and dh this year. Elder dc will keep telling dh when they go to the shop "mum wants daffodils" so he shouldn't forget 🤞

Nursery even gave me the bunch of daffodils 🤣 that and a card, elder dc school didn't do mother's day cards this year 😑

Although I've just been settling younger dc for a nap before we go visiting our mums and elder dc popped his head in and said him and dh are popping to the shop to get me a surprise 🤣 hopefully they get some cold and flu stuff too because I've felt really ill all weekend and run out of drugs
