What in the wide world is an Acre portal?

Over the last 15 minutes I've had five separate texts from Acre, whoever they are, saying this: "Your client portal verification code is 123456. Please don't share this code with anyone". The actual number changes each time. Does anyone have any idea what this could be about? It means nothing to me.

Acre is a real company (mortgage and finance) but this is a phishing scam to harvest your data. Just block it.

@Sminty2 Thanks, but I'm not sure how they could harvest anything.

I just deleted the texts.

@onelumporthree did you block them and report as spam?? If yes you shouldn't get any more 🤞

someone trying to get to a mortgage portal (acre ) … I send these to my clients as I’m a broker that uses acre . The fact it’s been sent to you 5 times means someone is trying to access it to complete their factfind . The broker has put the wrong number in and the client won’t be able to log in x

I just deleted the texts.

They rely on people who don’t check things properly and just type their data in. Many do.

If you haven’t blocked it, you may get another. Block and report is most effective.

Report suspicious text messages (SMS) by forwarding them to 7726 (free of charge) to help mobile providers block the sender.

For emails, forward them to [email protected].

@Sminty2 there was no link or email address or anything else at all other than the message as in my OP. It was like when you're buying something online and they send you a security code to your phone or by email to complete the process. Oh well, I've not had any more so I'll just ignore it. Maybe it was just a wrong number.

@onelumporthreethe login link goes to their email . Then the mobile number is used to verify them . X

Someone's got the wrong phone number then, haven't they? Someone somewhere is trying to log in and repeatedly asking for a verification code, and they aren't getting it - I am!

Oh well, never mind.

Thanks to all for responding. 🙂

Update - this morning I received an email from HSBC regarding a mortgage application confirmation which has been emailed to whoever it is who's applying for a mortgage with them. Apparently the code they texted me is the code to access the documents on the email. Again, no link or anything like that, just a code.

So whoever this person is, they will have received the email but no code. With luck they will contact HSBC and get it sorted out.

And no, I don't bank with HSBC, don't have a mortgage, and am not in the process of applying for one.

They are using a broker 100% and the broker has put the wrong number in. You will get a few of these texts from HSBC over the next few weeks . You can’t even find out who the broker is to let them know either . If you Dm me I could email acre your number and they can search who this client is and contact the broker . There’s only a handful of support staff so it will likely get resolved xx

Thanks for your help @Happy2623 and if I get any more of these messages I'll let you know.
