Hello lovely people. Does anyone know Flamborough area at all?
I will be holidaying with my elderly Mum in June in the area, we have booked some accommodation which is accessible for Mum. We are seeking info on how we can enjoy ourselves out and about with Mum who has some mobility issues. She can walk short distances and uses sticks, but needs to sit down at regular intervals. She hates using a wheelchair (but we have one we can use if we really need to). I'm really keen to know of things like scenic benches where she can sit and look at the sea or other accessible spots where she can enjoy the scenery. I'm not expecting that we will be trying to get to the local beaches as they seem to be steep slopes down to them. She loves to just be able to sit on a nice bench and enjoy the view and sea air.
Any suggestions welcome please. We have a car so can get to any places suggested
I know it's not the most accessible area but it holds childhood memories for her.

Not exactly Flamborough but if you drive down to Brid and park on North Marine Drive, you can sit right on the promenade and be metres from the sea.

there is also the land train that runs from Sewerby to Bridlington right along the top of the cliff.

Definitely Brid - there are lots of places where you can park very close to the sea and enjoy a scenic view without walking da or dealing with hills.

There are benches sited directly in front of the car park at North Landing, the views of the sea and cliffs are stunning there.

Benches right on top of Flamborough Head. Pub there too, right by the car park. Pretty much flat at the top there. She'll be able to see the lighthouse.

Fabulous suggestions and just what I was hoping for, thanks all. Great suggestions for scenic spots with benches, and the land train sounds ideal

North Landing has a brilliant seafood shack, but it’s down a steep slope. Benches at the top, so maybe your mum sits there while you get the crab cakes? Flamborough head itself has some reasonably gentle slopes to overlook the seals on the beaches below. It’s all a bit undulating though!

The beach at Filey is down a steep slope, but you can walk in the gardens at the top of the cliffs where there are lots of benches, and it’s a very pleasant spot.

If she like views and birds, Bempton cliffs is a must. June is the best time to see puffins.
You will have to persuade her to use the wheelchair but there are good even paths down to the viewing areas from the visitor centre and there are lowered fences so wheelchair users can see.
