Party drinks for pre-teens?

I'm hosting a 9th birthday party for DS and his friends. I usually provide jugs of squash but for logistical reasons this won't be possible so I need to buy some bottled drinks. What do your 9 year-olds like to drink?! DS often asks us for coke and we only let him have it on special occasions - we don't want to serve coke or other fizzy drinks to all his friends, in case the parents aren't comfortable with it. DS still quite likes Fruit Shoots but are they getting a bit babyish now?! What else can I get...

Individual cartons of fruit juice, fruit shoots for that age also fine. Bottles of water maybe if it has to be bottles and not in a glass?

Capri sun was very popular with my kids at that age

We served Schloer (which for some reason the children thought was a very grown up drink) and Appletizer. I guess just something a bit different.

My 9 year old (turns 10 next month) usually serves fruit shoots

Fruit shoots and water are perfectly appropriate for 8 & 9 yo children. They’re in year 4! Don’t push the “pre-teen” angle too soon.

We’ve done milkshakes before complete with squirty cream and smarties!

I have a dc the same age, I think all the kids are allowed fizzy drinks but I’ve never seen anyone give them coke (cos caffeine). So I’d get Tango.

It's a party so we did Sprite, Fanta and Appletiser at that age as DD hated squash. We got them small cups, not cans and only with the food.

Water was always available.

Thanks all! You're right I suppose they're not quite pre-teens are they. KS2 then Grin

I got some cola-flavoured Capri Sun (no caffeine!) and some Fruit Shoot Hydro drinks which are basically just flavoured water but look a bit more "grown up" than Fruit Shoots and hopefully more refreshing. They'll be running around (it's a ball sports party) and then eating pizza so I expect they'll be thirsty!

I would say a selection of spirits and then a few mixers of choice. I would also offer beer and wine, and then some soft drink options as there might be a few not drinking.

Yazoo milkshake doesn't have to be refrigerated. I know it is in the fridge section at the supermarket but we buy it from Costco and it most definitely isn't.

J20s always go down well with my DS and his friends, slightly more grown up than fruit shoots! Lots of his friends do drink fizzy drinks but DS doesn’t like them.
