Interpretating CT Scan Result prior to consultant visit.

Hi all,

Ive got my CT scan results ahead of my consultation next week. They have no notes it’s just images. I was sent due to potential lymphoma as I have lumps in neck and groin. Can anyone advise what I’m looking for?

Please don't ask for medical advice on MN. I promise you 95% of those responding have no clinical experience, even if they claim they're head of oncology at Barts. At best it'll be personal anecdote and hearsay and whether it's well-meaning or not you're unlikely to get accurate reports.

Any 'clinician' on here diagnosing over an anonymous chat forum should be given a wide berth.

I know you must be anxious but it really is best to wait for your appointment with your consultant.

This isn’t wise. Please just wait until your consultant speaks with you.

If it's just images and not a written report then you don't have the results. It will be completed in time for follow up. Just trust the system. For all the bitching on here it does work 95% of the time.

These scans will need to be read and reported by a Radiologist before any conclusions can be drawn. Interpreting medical imaging like this is not a trivial task, and even many doctors would not comfortably or accurately be able to do so. I know it is stressful, but please just wait for your appointment - anything else is just likely to lead to more worry or stress.

This. Doctors, unless they are also qualified radiologists, are not legally qualified to interpret CT scans.

I'm actually surprised they've given the scans to the patient without a formal evaluation tbh. Because of this very scenario of them running off to ask on MN or even worse, uploading to ChatGPT 'because AI is better than radiologists at reading radiographs'.
