Cruelty towards cats

Is cruelty towards cats always a sign a child is a psychopath. I’m not referring to my child but there is one locally that does that. No I don’t know him well and he is avoided

No

A 15 yr old sadistically torturing them? Probably.

A 3 yr old who could be more gentle? No.

I’d make sure people in the area are warned publicly.

It's not as clear cut as being a psychopath. That's a bit of a generalisation tbh and there are a load of personality disorders that people can suffer from. But yes, as a rule, people who lack compassion or empathy towards animals normally escalate their behaviour towards people.

Furthermore, the children that abuse animals often have a history of witnessing or suffering from abuse themselves and by harming something it makes them feel better about themselves as its an outlet for their anger and fear.

But yes it is an early indicator towards a violent future and its a strong link between animal abuse and other abusive behaviours as an adult.

It really depends on what you mean by cruel.

If there’s a kid catching them to torment them, or deliberately injuring them or mutilating them, they probably are fucked in the head one way or another (although not necessarily a psychopath). But I would assume if you were aware of a child doing that, you’d report it to the police as an animal cruelty offence.

If you mean a child is scaring cats by running at them or tossing a conker at them or pushing them away because it doesn’t like them, then no. Twattish, but not insane.

A older child who knows better? Yes it is a sign.

A young child still learning? No probably not.

what are they doing?
