Skydive health waiver

I’ve signed up to do a tandem skydive and raised nearly £700 in a week. Just come to complete the waiver and couldn’t tick to say I’m on no long term medication.

Im on for asthma and painkillers for Trigeminal Neuralgia. I’m confident that these will have no bearing on the jump. The company says I need to get a GP to sign a form, the GP is refusing to do it because it’s an extreme sport.

does anyone have any suggestions which aren’t don’t do the jump? I realise this is an option but so many people have donated already that I don’t want to not do this. I’m perfectly capable of doing it.

Glad you got it sorted.

There's been a recent case where a GP was sued for signing one of these forms. The patient had anxiety/depression and was on medication. She landed badly and was injured. She claimed that she should have been found medically unfit and that she then 'probably' wouldn't have participated. I think a lot of GPs who previously would have signed these sort of forms now feel it's not worth the risk.

Blimey!! It’s a minefield, I do understand the reluctance to sign them, I was just thrown into a state of anxiety thinking about people who had donated if all of a sudden I couldn’t get the clearance.

Thank you for the support everyone

I read quite recently that it costs the nhs £13.75 for every £1 raised through charity sky dives due to injuries.

im not surprised therefore that dr’s are reluctant to sign the forms!
