Visiting Shrewsbury - locals, where is nice please?

I’ve had some extremely helpful advice here in the past about visiting UK towns and I was hoping that those of you who know Shrewsbury could help me out please? I’d like to know what areas are best for staying for a few days, ideally less than 30mins walk from the train station. Or if anyone can recommend a hotel or apartment for a group of 3. I’d prefer an area that’s a bit trendy with nice pubs or wine bars, a few independent restaurants etc. the type of area where you might find a hipster coffee shop artisan bakery or a deli - haha. Or is all that to in the town centre instead? It’s the people travelling with who like this stuff - I’d probably be happy enough in the Premier Inn. But I’d be very grateful for any tips.

Thank you very much!

Shrewsbury is lovely, I’ve visited a few times. I’ve stayed at The Lion & Pheasant (great food) & Abbots Mead Hotel. Everything is central. There’s lots of independent cafes, bars & shops as well as a Wetherspoons! Food wise I enjoy The Armoury (along the river) caters for everyone. Dough & oil for pizza, Bread and Loaf for a pastry!
Hope you have a great time

Shrewsbury is nice but definitely not hipster material!

I'm interested in going as well (not with OP!) so would love suggestions of a nice place to stay for a couple.
I've been for a day and loved it but never stayed overnight.

I really liked it there - stayed innthe Premier inn which suited me fine! Make sure you visit the prison - brilliant museum and we had the place to ourselves!

It's not large! There aren't multiple areas. I think the whole town may be within 30 mins of the station. It doesn't actually sound much like your sort of destination. It's a small country market town, with a respectable set of shops and restaurants because it serves a very large rural hinterland, but that hinterland determines vibe.

I agree with @Paaseitjes it’s a very provincial market town. I used to work there , it’s pretty dull.

Have visited, nice enough vibe feels safe and just enough shops to walk around. Nearest thing to Hipster vive is Beefy Boys burger restaurant. The outdoor space for its Wetherspoon is great on a summers day.

Definitely stay in the town centre, the market has gone a bit artisan and there’s lots of independent shops on the Wyle Cop. The best thing is the Quarry, a big river side park. There’s lots of nice bars, Boat House if the weather is good wouldn’t call it trendy though. For food you could try The Walrus.
