Anyone had experience with the BBC filming at their home?

Had a letter put though the door asking if we would consider the BBC using the house to film.
Has anyone done it and how did it go?

Corrie filmed on the street years ago and we got £100 each to let ITV put xmas decorations in the front windows.

I have a feeling using the house to decorating the window will be a very different experience.

Thanks 😊

No but how cool! Please tell me what kind of house it is op (1930s, Victorian?) and what it is that you think they like about it? Has it got the original doors and windows?

It was built 1860s.
We have some original features like the light box and top rails (9 foot ceilings)
Corrie used it was we are a one sided street with glass land that leads up to a park. There was loads of room for equipment.

Not the BBC but an independent production company filming a comedy show. It was only 3 days but it was amazing. We got paid lots and it was fun to see the TV crew at work. Really recommend you find out more.

Find out more. It can be quite intrusive - they may want to redecorate, and you may have to sleep away from home for the duration depending on how long they need it for and how many/which rooms they use. They should put everything back “as was”, on top of your fee. It’s great if you’re not too house proud (?) I know some people who used to regularly rent their house out, and use the money on renovations as they were doing it up anyway.

I will ask more questions and find out the extent of what they will want to do.
I hadn't considered we may have to move out. Will have to check how DP feels. I wouldn't be bothered - hes more of a home bird than me.
Thank you 😊

Seconding the comment about checking what the filming will entail. As @Zhu said it can involve them wanting to redecorate etc, but from colleagues who have worked in the film industry I know that the putting it right part isn’t always done with the care and attention you might want. If you’re sensitive to things being done just so, be aware that they can and might cause damage, and that they may not have the same standards for fixing it that you do. That said, if they’re offering you enough money then this sort of risk might not matter.

1860s wow! How lovely.

My first thought was is it definitely legit? It could be an effective scam to let people into your home so double check with them first using a number that’s not on the card.

@Imbrocator Depending on how they decorate it if they do I'm the type to be oh change love it leave it 😅
So long as my Lego Collection is kept safe I'm good.

I seems legit from what we found on Google. I have a meeting at 10am to find out more 😊
