Thailand in late October

I’m considering taking my DC to Thailand over October half term - ages 4, 7, 8. Does anyone have recommendations on places to visit, activities to do, or anything else?

I know it will be towards the end of the rainy season, I was hoping the weather wouldn’t be too bad but does anyone have experience of travelling around Thailand at that time of year?

Thailand is rainy from around October - December.
Can be very rainy indeed!
I was at Koh Samui in December and it rained that much the massive Christmas tree in the hotel grounds floated away into the sea.
January - April has much better weather.

Direct flights London to Bangkok are near 12 hours long. That’s a long flight, especially for the younger ones, for the sake of only a week and before accounting for onward travel. You won’t get much done in a week in wet season - there were horrendous floods last October.

Flooding was mainly south last year, Koh Samet is driving distance (plus ferry) from Bangkok and could be an option, or Hua Hin. It is pretty hot for young kids so bear that in mind, regularly high 30s.

Oh that is useful information, thanks - I thought the rainy season was over by early November so might be improving by the end of October

Thanks for the response - not worried about the flight length, the DC are used to long haul travel and we would stay an extra few days after half term, but I was hoping the rainy season would be finishing by then!

Will have a look at Koh Samet, thanks. DC are heat lovers like me so that wouldn’t bother them!

What things do you want to do? Sit on the beach all day, by the pool, elephant sanctuary, tourist sites, temples? Oct is a good time for the north such as Chiang Mai or Chiang Rai. Very lush and cooler than down south.

Maybe a couple of beach or pool days but mostly tourist things - temples, elephants (if we can see them ethically), nature etc.
