Have always thought I was one and done since ds was a toddler, (had him at 24 with same DH) he's now 8 and I am feeling broody for second. I am 32, 33 at the end of this year. Dh is 36.

Wwyd, is the age gap now too large, are we too old ?!

Life wise we already own a house and probably will be here for next 15-20 years so long term. Money wise can afford nursery for 4/5 years but we were planning to start overpaying the mortgage in the next few years. I just think it's now or never if we are planning a second dc.

What are some things to consider or do you have a positive/negative experience I suppose of an age gap between siblings of 9/10 years. ?

I have 2 DDs, 10 year gap, they adore each other - adults now and still do!

There are advantages of bigger gaps. Not competing for the same toys/attention. I think older kids can get a lot out of having a younger sibling - they get to be kids a bit longer under the guise of playing with their little brother/sister.
You have to be a bit more creative about what you do as a family to keep everyone happy. We have a 12 year gap between no's 2 and 3. They're all adults now but get on well.

Thanks both! Have been reading posts on here re pros and cons of bigger age gaps and one constant is that the age gap doesn't matter when they're adults.

Our big age gap kids never argued as kids either - the big ones were 12 & 13 when DD arrived. She was really shocked when she saw how mean some of the relationships with near age sibs were in her friends families as it was nothing like her experience where hers were always nice 😄

I had 5 years between 1 and 2 and 11 months between 2 and 3. My two best friends have had big gaps 11 years and 15 years, the older ones adore the younger siblings whilst mine are fighting constantly 😆
