Very painful sensitive bottom teeth when it’s cold outside. Any recommendations

So painful! I walk the dog a few times a day and sometimes my teeth hurt for hours afterwards.
I use Duraphat on prescription from my dentist and a sensitive toothpaste.
I’ve tried wrapping a scarf around my mouth but it doesn’t seem to make any difference.
Am I missing anything that might help please?
And is there anything I can do to ease the pain once it starts?

Do you have pain when eating cold food? Is your tooth cracked?

I get this, though not as bad as yours sounds. The only thing that really helps me is trying not to open my mouth at all when outside when it's really cold and just breathing through my nose - I'm sure you've probably tried this though!

@SquatBetty No no pain on eating cold food. Just when breathing in cold air. I’ve just read online that the dentist can paint your teeth with a fluoride varnish. I’m going to ring tomorrow to see if it’s really a thing.

Get some Anbesol, it is a strong teething gel but for adult use. Available at pharmacies behind counter. It numbs the gums when teeth are super sensitive, and stops the pain quickly.

dentist can paint your teeth with a fluoride varnish but it’s only a very short term measure

i had a temporary dentist who messed up my teeth and made them really sensitive one side. He then put fillings in between the teeth that fell out and really messed them up even more when they fell out after 6 weeks.

I get prescription toothpaste that I rub in just on that side but I can only get 6 months at a time. This might help. If I don’t use it then it hurts even if I smile at that side
