I think this would be possible to do nowadays.

Around 2008 whenever me and exH went abroad we left our phones with my parents at home and got them back when they picked us up from the airport. It wasn't a thing back then to constantly need your phone iirc.
Anyway,it was a really good week away apart from whenever we tried to get lunch in the hotel it was closed so we shrugged and went elsewhere each day.We met a nice couple and arranged to meet up for drinks at a set time but they arrived 40 mins late, bit rude but we didn't say anything. They were also very late the following night.
On the day of leaving we were waiting ages for the coach to pick us up even though we got there at the arranged time.

On the plane home we double checked the time with the air steward to adjust ExH watch to the time at home and found out his watch had been 40 min late ALL holiday and we were totally oblivious.Stupid of us or does this show how mistakes can happen when you're not glued to something with a clock on it? 🤣

I’m sorry but this really made me laugh 😀
I think not taking phones on holiday would be amazing. However my teens would probably refuse to go if I tried that.

Most boarding cards are now on phones as a start, almost always use Apple Pay to pay for everything. All my confirmations are in my files / emails. I definitely couldn’t go away without mine.

That's brilliant!
I often forget my phone when I go out. I'm sure I could do without it for a week.

Surely you mean your OP's watch was 40 minutes early? If it was late, you'd have missed everything!

ETA: I mean, "early" and "late" doesn't really work here. Your OP's watch was set 40 minutes ahead.

Right. So that is really funny though 😆

I once hurried DD to get her into school on time. On a bank holiday Monday 😊

I've said to my husband I'm considering getting a pay as you go for our next holiday. So I can reach him and our kids, if we get separated, and the cat sitter can contact me but I can put everything and everyone else down. Last year I had to call a welfare check on my mum as she sent worrying messages (with hindsight a missed stroke). This year she's in a facility with more care, so I can take a week.
