Anyone else not need life to have a meaning?

I am an atheist, and very happy with life. I don't need there to be any meaning or purpose. I am content to enjoy life as it is, my family, nice food, nature, friends. I am sad about mortality, but it is just what being an animal on this planet means. We just have to enjoy the life we have. I take huge pleasure in this world, nature, art, and animals expecially. Do others feel the same? I'm off to do the big shop, will reply later, if anyone answers!

Me. I don't get the big quandary about the meaning of life. There isn't one, or if there is, it's just procreation to continue the survival of our species, like any other animal.

I'm quite happy to just enjoy the time that I have without searching for any deeper meaning.

I think I’m with you on this. I’m also pretty content just living my life and feel no need for it to have some wider meaning or to have made a huge difference in the world. Raising and caring for my family and being a reasonably helpful member of society is enough for me. I’m a very average person and I’m ok with that. I’m not ambitious or driven. I don’t believe in an afterlife (although I do find myself chatting to my grandparents!).

Me.

There is no meaning of life.
We live.
We die.
Enjoy everything in between as much as possible.

Me. There not being a grand purpose in life means that you get to find your own meaning.

Me. The realisation was immensely liberating. Though I do think that the purpose of organisms is to reproduce or to support the reproduction of other organisms.

Having said that, there are serious scientists who consider that the existence we know might be a simulation.

Ultimately, I am thankful to be able to live this life and to experience the world around me. I recognise that I’ve been lucky in where and when I was born. And it is just that: luck. I can take no pride in the circumstances that brought me here. So I’m not proud of details such as my nationality because it’s all a lottery.

I hope to face my inevitable oblivion with as much equanimity as I can muster.

Totally agree, OP. We are born as a result of, effectively, a biological and genetic accident. Then we breathe in and out for a few decades and then we die. There is no "meaning", other than the fact that our heart and lungs are working effectively!
We don't need a "purpose", because biology takes care of it. We can, of course, make a choice to decide that jobs, people, hobbies, faith etc give our life "meaning", but that's totally random, not to mention optional.

I was brought up religious, but lost faith very young. As a pp said, it's liberating. I think I live a reasonably ethical life, I've been veggie for 40 years, work hard, poverty the law, try to mind the planet. Living is enough purpose.

I'm quite happy pootling along. I have plans and goals which give me something to aim for, whether or not I achieve them is another matter! It is more about moving forward positively than looking back at some of the detritus (abusive marriage).

I have some current family issues which are outside of my control, so I just deal with that the best I can and try to keep focused.

Yep. I'm an atheist too. Don't believe in the afterlife, souls, fate etc... I think we just die and that's that. Our bodies just go back in the soil and we feed the insects and creepy crawlies - if you get buried anyway. When I die I don’t want a funeral. Just chuck me in the ground and be done with it.

It just seems normal to me, as I wasn't brought up religious!
