Horrible experience at hairdresser

Left my salon that id gone to for years because I thought I had reacted to products until that happened i was very happy. Went to new salon and it was awful . I had hair coloured and said I normally have the colour massaged into the ends after a few minutes they did t do that. Then I had it washed a d the chair was too low abd I couldn't put my head back properly so water and hair dye ran all down my face. They blamed it on the wat I was sitting but the chair was too low. I said the chairs need cushions to lift people up so they could tip their hed back more. They said no. They the hairdresser said how do you want your hair cut and I said I mentioned to you I didn't want it cut abd she said oh sorry. Then I showed her a photo of ne and how I wanted it blow dried. She said ok but did it nothing like the photo and I looked awful. I then paid and left.

When I got home I wet my hair and dried it again and I look better. Never going back their again They havent a clue. Im still without a hairdresser

Horrible when we're hairdresserless. Mine left a few years back and I haven't been happy since.

Bigearringsbigsmile · 20/02/2026 20:27

Why did you ditch your hairdressers because you think you reacted to products?
Tou tell them and they try something different, do tests etc

MikeRafone · 20/02/2026 20:27

If you know what they should be doing when they put the dye on, why not do it yourself? Grab a box and plenty of diy on haircuts on YouTube

Ask your original hairdresser to use different products! They will have a plan B for allergies.

She did originally suggest using a different product abd when I tried to book again she said I told her I had reacted and nobody else had said that so she was annoyed abd told me not to return

How disappointing! Then I’m sorry. Maybe ask friends for recommendations? Friends with hair you like the look of obviously 😆.

As it happened I hadn't reacted abd it was shingles but she got rid of me. I. Trying another salon near me who is very similar and see how it goes. I like old fashioned salons not trendy salons

Im going to complain to the hairdresser i wrnt to. They did a parch test on my wrist a couple if weeks ago but on my wrist. I queried it and they said they dont do it behind the ear. I had no reaction. They coloured my hair too dark and it's gone frizzy. My head us itching more than it ever has from a colouring at my old salon.

I paid £80. They should be shut down. Im itching also on other areas. I want a refund.

Has it gone frizzy because you washed it and dried it again very quickly when the colour was still new? Tbh I can see why your old hairdresser ditched you, you sound quite hard work as a customer.

Cappie73 · 20/02/2026 23:26

So you didn’t react? It was shingles? Make your mind up

patooties · 20/02/2026 23:29

I think if I was self employed and a client was permanently unhappy / accused me of using something that had given them a reaction (that turned out to be scabies) I would probably not want to keep doing their hair either.

SeashellHouse · 20/02/2026 23:56

@PerkyOchrePeer, I remember your last hairdresser thread, and in fact, numerous of your other threads complaining about other people’s behaviour. Obviously anyone can have a bad experience at the hairdresser, but you’ve also started threads to complain about the previous hairdresser, your dentist, your doctor, an occupational therapist at work, someone you went to school with not wanting a souvenir, a friend not asking how you were, your job and your colleagues, a friend who blocked you on WhatsApp and many, many others. I remember your username because the most ordinary human interaction seems to cause you so much anger and confusion.

It turned out to be shingles not scabies. Besides how was i to know it was shingles at the time. I had my hair done as usual and never had any complaints. It was cut and coloured and blow dried very well with a smooth sleek finish. I got on very well with the hairdresser. The last time I went in I had the usual colour and blow. Two days later I woke up with a swollen eye. I had heard that even if you dont react to colour for years you can still react. Some salons say you should periodically have a patch test regardless so I queried that and she said no. Anyway I then got a rash which a doctor said was shingles

I then phoned the salon to say it was shingles and not a reaction and she was sorry I had shingles and then said if it made ne feel better, I could bring my own dye next time so, at that point she was still willing to have me. Qhen I recovered from the shingles I tried to book again to go back abd she dismissed me and thats after she said next time bring your own dye.

Having seen a lot of your other posts on here (in which you detail your endless bitter disputes with numerous people over tiny things anyone else would think were a complete non-issue) I suspect there were other reasons for her telling you not to come back.

Shutuptrevor · 21/02/2026 00:37

Does any part of you think you might be the common denominator here, @PerkyOchrePeer?

EnjoyingTheArmoire · 21/02/2026 01:18

Did you manage to get your counselling booked in for next month?

Hopefully that will be useful for you.

I did not wash it. I just wet it and to be honest I did it as soon as I got home because I looked hideous from the salon job. She could not copy my photo of my hair so I didn't think she was not that good because ive shown other hairdressers the same photo and they have managed to blow dry it exactly as the photo of me because they are more experienced and know what they are doing. Sorry if I sound harsh but I paid a fair bit and did not get a fair deal
