Nothing? They have bigger issues. Possibly a gentle word about the kids’ language use.

PevenseygirlQQ · 20/02/2026 16:23

Nothing, they can police the language whilst the child is in the school but nothing otherwise. It’s not illegal to use swear words in-front of your kids.

You can teach your child that some words are bad and hope they listen to you and not use them!

They would tell the child not to use those words at school and explain why.

I always say "xx is a word that can upset people and we don't say it at school."
The first time it came up in one job I had my boss said "if they're using it that casually, they don't know it's any worse than any other word." and since then I've been very aware that they don't need to be told off, just told the expectations!

Obviously if they are swearing unkindly at someone or in anger I'm firmer, but I would be if they were being unkind without swearing too!
So typically I don't think any serious action is taken. I'm not sure if you are worried about the children getting into trouble, or hopeful that their mother will.
It would only be noted as a real cause for concern if the language was being used abusively rather than regular effing and jeffing.

I am very sweary. I do try very hard not to say it in front of DD but they do slip out on occasion.

She is very bright though and she knows it’s a naughty adult word and children mustn’t say it. She never has to my knowledge. She finds bumbum and poo highly hilarious though (she is 6).

I’m not that fussed if she becomes sweary when she is bigger. There’s worse things.
