My grandma has cancer and is struggling with the treatment. She writes down the medication she takes - this is paracetamol. I’m really concerned about her mentally seeing this, do you think something else is going on? Any advice appreciated, thank you

Yes, I think it's highly possible she's confused. Presumably you've seen notes she's written to herself before and they've been more intelligible than this one?
Sorry @GreeneryGrass . Can you talk to her GP? 💐

Could she possibly have a urine infection? That can cause considerable confusion in some people.

I'm sorry to hear about your nan Flowers
Is she on strong opiate analgesics which might cause confusion?
Where is the cancer? Brain?
Any fever or signs of infection?
Any new meds or a chance she might have taken more than is prescribed?

Thanks everyone. She has blood cancer. She’s on morphine and some other pain meds in addition to her usual meds and chemo. Her other notes have been much more legible than this one, we were quite shocked to see this. She’s been off and on confused but this has concerned us further seeing it actually physically in front of us if that makes sense?

When I had to take opiate type pain killers as a young person (20s) it really messed with my cognitive ability to the extent I was zoning out completely and had to be really careful when I took it. And that would have been for a much lower dosage than your grandma will be on for cancer. And real morphine is "the good stuff" for a reason. So I wouldn't discount the possibility it's the painkillers. They do make you woozy especially mixed with other medication. Also, cancer itself and being unwell can make you tired and being tired makes you more confused as well.

It could also be something additional related to aging, or something else like a urine infection as others have suggested. I think definitely try to find out what is.causing it. But if it's on/off you could try to work out if it follows a particular pattern- for example is she more confused in the morning or evening, does it correspond with times she takes pain medication or other medication.

If it is the pain medication then obviously just going of it is not a solution. She is taking them for a reason and besides, being in pain can also impair cognitive function. But you at least want to know what is causing it. Can you speak to her doctors/nurses? They should be able to tell you how normal this is.
