We went to the cinema on Monday. Odeon kids' club £1 per ticket. Films are childish (U) but fun. Then a wander in town.

Yesterday went to local estuary town for a wander along the water, park & lunch.

He has friends round this afternoon for a sleepover. There will be screens but also park, games, pool & darts

Friday we are going to Chessington with friends.

Went to Boom Battle Bar & did shuffleboard which was fun. He likes the look of indoor golf & augmented reality darts too.

Also done some baking/cooking, Lego, crafts.

Mine is 12 on Friday & still quite young but maybe some ideas there.

How about a bouldering or climbing intro session at a local wall? My kids loved climbing at that age and I even joined in sometimes!

We are pretending to be tourists tomorrow and going to see a nearby Castle and visitor centre.

Thanks for the ideas, we've decided to head out for a swim

Trampoline parks were another hit at that age. But I would also make them do some free activities like woodland walks (we are NT members) and maybe baking.....

My 12 year old son is having a chilled half term. He had an inset day just before half term so went into town to spend some book vouchers he had for Christmas. We had a big day out yesterday and went to the museum and out for lunch. Tomorrow he is meeting up with his friends for a birthday party. He has been happy to spend time in the house this half term and he said he the last term was exhausting with exams and revision and I think he is adjusting to being in year 7.

DS is 10, Sunday was free rein of the screens and a skateboard round the neighbourhood.
Monday we did a park-crawl (pub crawl with parks, obviously) which they liked but I found incredibly stressful.
Tuesday all day cricket club.
Today cinema (so more screens) then I’ve just let them (DS8 too) loose on the screens - minecrafting together and watching Red Bull things (the mountain bike/soap box/parkour thing) at the same time.
Tomorrow we’re going to a family day at local art gallery which they’ll complain about, then 8yo out to friend and 10yo home with me as all his friends are away - screens again probably!
Fri Sat Sun I’m not sure!
Eldest is totally incapable of playing by himself without screens whereas 8yo has done crafts, clay, guitar, baking, Lego, toys etc. Just different personalities :) I’m solo parenting this week and also have a 3yo, and work term time so this is meant to be my holidays too. So I am far more relaxed with the screen time in the hols! We all need to chill.
