HELP! London today (Wednesday)

Fancycardi1990 · 18/02/2026 07:15

We had tickets to see the princess and the pea at Southbank centre today but it’s been cancelled :(

We still need to go to London because we’re meeting Grandad…

Customers are one five year old, pretty mature, will have a go at most things and one 14 month old. Mobile and a menace.

All of the other Southbank shows that allowed babies are sold out.

We’ll be travelling into London Bridge and I’ll be carrying the baby so don’t fancy loads of travel if possible. Apart from that, London is our oyster - don’t mind spending some money for the right thing.

Any clever ideas for an itinerary? Please please 🙏🏻

The London aquarium on the Southbank? Worked really well when mine were similar ages. You can then also walk along the southbank which is usually nice.

Tate Modern is great with kids. There is usually stuff for them to do on the ground floor and plenty of room to run around.

Peppa Pig bus tour is also meant to be great if you can get tickets!

Have a look at the Postal Museum in Holborn too.

Thank you both, Tate Modern might be in the running.

She did the aquarium this summer, postal museum sold out and peppa pig bus = no under twos :(

uber boat to Westminster. National portrait gallery just did up its kids area. The London transport museum is great too.

I like the Aquarium too - and you used to be able to discounted tickets with a train ticket.

Tate Modern is a great space & has play sessions for children during half term I think. I haven't been for a while, but the cafe at the top had great views.

I haven’t taken my children - but I loved Frameless London at Marble Arch, there were lots of children there and it was a great sensory, immersive experience.

I also loved the Postal Museum at this age, but appreciate it's a trek.

Also - perhaps top deck of a bus tour that does a loop?

Highly recommend heading to southbank centre anyway as they have lots of stuff on. If you walk about 20 mins down the Thames you get to the Tate Modern, which might be a good shout. You’re also across the bridge from Covent Garden which has the transport museum (and a soft play!). If you travel by train you can get 2 for 1 offers on it.

Is there anything on at the Unicorn Theatre near London Bridge? That is usually baby friendly.

LawdAMercy · 18/02/2026 07:28

Try Ahoy! Section at Greenwich maritime museum, it’s a hands on play area great for kids of that age, plus a good playground outside. Need to book ahead though

ooh yes and tickets are valid for a year to go back.

There are a few shows on at the Little Angel theatre is Islington- this is a very sweet children’s theatre aimed at littlies so will be a bit more low key than the South Bank but it’s really good. You can go to Angel from London Bridge very easily on the northern line and it’s a short walk from there.

Probably not the weather for it (and a bit of travel!) but I always loved this place as a kid -

Apart from that I would second the tate modern and surrounding area

Tate modern is great for 5 year olds and not far to walk. Loads of space, you can always find some art they will enjoy and little activities too.

I second the London transport museum for that age group. Take a taxi
the Tate modern is ok for toddlers as there’s space to run around in that massive open space, but after that not much to do. London transport museum is great for toddlers

no under 2s for Peppa?!! Well I hope that includes baby Evie!

Thank you for your input everyone

We ended up going to the Tate Modern and it did keep them both busy all day - littlest ran around and napped, eldest loved the sketch book with the activities and the exhibition with the shadows to look at.
